Trailed in first quarter. Michele got her two quick fouls to begin the game. Later came back and played OK. Krimili is the beast who scored 15 points. williams has good game. Abigor had a lousy game. Lula in 3 point slump.

Just watching live stats and Cal had an 11 point lead with 1:16 to go when Oniyah committed some foul including a technical and Pacific has sunk free throws and a layup and now it is a 6 point lead

Good to see Lulu back scoring some at the end. We will need more of that against Stanford.

Cal wins 74 to 68. Marta has big second half. Krimili scores 22.

7 of 26 from 3 - yikes!
Cal with 20 turnovers - UOP wit 27

Krimili with 22
Suarez with 21
Oniya with 15
Twidale with 9

Not the best offensive performance of the year. 37.95 overall from the field.

So does Oniyah's 6th foul carry over to the next game - sort of like a red card?

Hangover from Alabama win.

I'll take it. Now time off until Friday's game against Stanfurd.

Charmin Smith's comments from Calbears.com story:

On the win… "I thought we were way too sloppy today. I didn't like our performance at all and I thought we were playing with fire. I think this is a good wake up call for us. We got up for the big ones and we tried to really message that this was a really, really big game. Pacific is a really good team. Bradley [Davis] is a really good coach. It took us a couple quarters to really figure that out, but I'm glad that we could weather the storm and come away with the win. At the end of the day that's all that matters. I think we'll learn from this and be better prepared particularly when we're going on the road."

I was worried about this game being a letdown after that Alabama win. But fortunately they came away with A "W"! One note- we need more than two points from our bench.

Yeah. This was a trap game as soon as the whistle blew against Alabama. Nice job. Bring on the 'furd!

Krimilli and Suarez were great today. But Krimilli needs to work on her passes as she had two turnovers with overpasses. Ionescu was an exceptional strong fast passer at Oregon. Abigor is a huge drop-off when Onyiah has to sit with fouls as she can't make baskets close to the hoop. Not impressed with Donez so far.Hope Twisdale gets back on track. Noble and Willams are great. Mafua and King aren't able to help, although Ackerman and Maul are good. Whatever happened to Langarita? We definitely need a better center to replace Oniyah in the future.

As mentioned in countless other posts, Claudia should be back in January.
She had back surgery earlier this year and is now recovering.

Gabrielle Abigor, the freshman, has had some pretty good games lately as a backup for Michelle.

I noted that Massey predicted a near-certain Cal win, but a margin of only 10 points; Pacific has a fairly good SOS. (Saddened and surprised that they beat the Beavs.)

Langarita averaged 1.3 rebounds the last two years with Cal. why does everyone talk about her as the next coming of an outstanding player.

With all due respect, did it ever occur to you that Abigor is a freshman, has size and talent, and just might get better over the next 3 1/2 years? How many games have you watched this season? This post has the, "I watched one game, X was great, Y was good, Z isn't good" feel to it.

While Gabby doesn't possess Michele's finess offensively, my guess is over her career she will develop into a much more consistent defender than Michele is. Quite often this season I'm already seeing her positioning on the defensive end affecting opponents' inside shots.

Yes Krimilli is going to commit turnovers, as Kayla's backup at the point, that's what happens when you play point guard in college basketball. Those are human athletes out there playing, it's not a computer game. And there are a lot of gray areas. I think that's the best way to analyze it.

Donez is an exellent defender. Fast with long arms.

Donez is a good defender. That's why she's playing the most out of the first year players so far....be patient with these kids....

I wasn't impressed with the refs yesterday. Pacific is always a tough, well-coached team and I think there was clearly a let down of sorts, but it's good to have these type of games. Toughens them up for ACC play and beyond.
