The coaches' poll today has Cal at 27, which is perhaps more realistic; I tend to trust the coaches' long-term point of view at least as much as I do the sports writers'.

Coaches are "protecting" those 7 SEC schools.

Ole Miss is behind us in the AP poll but one spot ahead in the Coaches poll. They haven't really beaten anybody notable. Their three losses are to the SC Trojans, UConn and NC State.
