North Carolina up by 10 against Miami at halftime.

Two very good teams. NC State a bit more athletic. Clemson, better shooting and puts up a lot of threes, many with a guard penetrating and then throwing it back outside. Some home cooking with NCS getting 27 free throws vs 10 for Clemson. Will have to play well and earn it against both of these teams.

Clemson was picked to finish 13th in the conference by the coaches; one spot ahead of Cal.

They'll be tough at home.

Announcers were raving about Cal and their shooting prowess at the end of the game.

Refs did call some screens quite tightly. Michelle will need to be especially vigilant on those outside.

Annharbor bear is right. these two teams are dangerous. Which team do you think the 1-3-1 zone is being prepared for. I noticed the Clemson Blond hired girl who shoots over 40% of her threes shoots a lot from the top of the key. That is where Michele is. Michele hasn't had a blocking foul for lots of games . I'd sy she coud be in trouble with the zone trying to block a shot.

N C State is very athletic. Clemson did a good job of handling the ball. Now it is our time.

Specifically in the first half, Clemson reminded me of - us, hot from three point land.
And not only is NC State athletic, they are also big. We will need to concentrate on not letting them have their way on the boards.

Against Clemson, I think the key will be controlling the penetrations of their point guard, McQueen. They get a lot of three pointers off of her passes, and she is a very good dribbler and very quick. Start Kayla on her, and then follow that up with Noble.

Even though they could not pull out the win at the end, Clemson played NC State tough on road. They didn't have many TOs against NC State so my key is Cal will have to take care of the ball. If the Bears have 20+ TOs like they have been averaging, they could drop this game because Clemson shoots 3s pretty well and it's on their home court.

Plus the ever-obvious key: Michelle needs to be on the floor.

Does Cal defend 1-on-1 without helping off shooters? It's a dilemma teams that face Cal have to decide too. Clemson seemed to have pretty good guard play.

I had thought (based on the competition they'd faced) Clemson might be a game Cal 'should' win. Now, after watching the Clemson/NC State game, I am not too sure.

Now I'm thinking split. If Cal plays well against Clemson, they might even sweep.

It would not be surprising if regarding the opponent's most effective player, this becomes the recurring strategy for these upcoming conference games.
