Why do r3ed states outdraw blue states in women's basketball? You would think it would be the opposite. Iowa is sold out for the year. Yeah, i now Clarks sparked interest but a friend of mine who went to University of Iowa said during the 60's that the girl's high school tournament sold out every year. So it is not a recent phenomena.

With all our feminist studies at Cal, why don't they come to our women's games? Clay says that girls in high school go to the boys games but not the girl's games. I guess it follows on to women's sports in college.

Just wondering.

I can only speak for Northern California, but let's be honest-within 45 minutes, I can drive to the ocean, the redwoods, or wine country. What exactly can you do within that kind of proximity in Iowa City on any given day? I say this with love, i've got multiple Hawkeye alums in my family!

yep. CF is right. our basketball girls go watch the boys, but not necessarily the opposite. we do have decent crowds at our girls games, but the boys games have alot more people. our state championship team had home games that filled the gym. when you win attendance goes up and when you lose it goes down. Happy New year to wvitbear and cal fanatic.

Happy new year to you both. Lode bear lives in an area that is not as blue as here. Proving my pint that rural areas support their teams more than here. And he lives close to Yosimite and it is beautiful up there.

If these college women can go to the coast why is it they attend men's games but not women's. I have been in all 50 states and their are lots of beautiful areas in the USA. But North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia have beautiful ocean spots and beautiful mountains (Smokey's) but they still attend women's games.

Women wanting to watch women's sports is not a direct statistical correlation. I am not going to go into more detail here, but have someone help you Google some of what has been written. Spoiler alert: women's interest in NFL is staggering.
The feminist studies connection is assuming interest in sports to begin with, but overall is so disconnected...Maybe "they" all like soccer better? Does a sweeping generalization sound silly when I say It?
Going to Boys Games in so many places in HS has traditions in it being a big social event, a see and be seen event.
Connecticut is a blue state..UConn women's hoops is as popular over a longer period of time as anywhere.
Dawn Staley is as outspoken as anyone on what most would consider more "liberal" issues(for lack of a better term), but is loved in Columbia. She is from Philly, but doesn't attend any Communist meetings (joke).
Back in the late 70s, Cal water Polo matches were packed the mornings before a home football game, The sororities in particular came out to see the hot guys.
It. Was. A. Thing. That's the moral to the story...
