At this point in the season, you are who are.

Cal is a top 30 women's basketball team, but not top five, or even top 15. They're supposed to lose to teams like Duke and Notre Dame, and the margin of victory is essentially irrelevant. What you have to do is beat the teams you're supposed to beat, and maybe pull off an upset.

If the Bears can get to the second weekend in the NCAAs, the season is a spectacular success. Even one win is a big step forward.

As simplistic as this may sound, I think it's completely accurate.

I would think that currently Charmin will "regroup" the team. All six games left on the regular season schedule are certainly winnable. Success in those games and a decent run in the ACC tourney could result in a regional 6 seed (possibly a 5.) Accomplishing that might pave the way for them to have a fighting chance to win twice on the opening weekend of the big tourney. Anything past that would only happen if the team improves drastically between now and then. To me it looks like about the top 8 (give or take 1 or 2) nationally ranked teams right now are teams that our current squad just can't compete with. But after those 8 teams, wins are still possible. And to Clay's point, barring a total collapse moving forward, this season has shown great improvement.

WBB has always had huge gaps between the best and everyone else. That gap has closed in recent years (at least NCs are not 1 of 3 teams) but there still is a wide gap

I think it will be about matchups. If we get a 5-6 seed we should advance to second round.

in the second round If we play a top defensive team or a very aggressive team that extends their defense and has a deep bench then it will be tough

What this team needs now are two good home wins where are shooters get back to form and gain confidence
