Are we recruiting any of these players? I believe we've offered two players from Oakland Tech. Maybe one from BOD?

Per the SF Chronicle, Cal & Santa Clara have offered Mitty's freshman 6-2 PF, Maliya Hunter (#23). She is playing McKenna Woliczko's post position and gaining bigtime experience. The Monarchs have their top ten players returning next season (if nobody transfers), and they have a soph 5-9 SG, Z Patterson (#22) that probably will be a Div I player, too. She is a dead-eye three-point shooter.

But have any committed to Cal. We all follow Puff because she likes us. Why follow any team if they don't have Cal commits. How about the girl in Texas?

I am born 'n raised in San Jose, CA. I have always followed high school sports in the CCS, and after I returned from UCSB, I redirected my college interest to Cal. Why wouldn't someone that lives here want to follow a local high school team that is a national powerhouse. Cal women's basketball has not been good enough under Charmin Smith to recruit top level high school talent. Mitty's Kristin Iwanaga played at Cal, but she was not a 4- or 5-star recruit.

Did you see the quality talent that Virginia's new HC recruited? The Cavaliers are young and five of their top six players are a freshman, three sophomores & a junior. Only the 6-4 post player Lattimore was a senior transfer from Miami.

I'm tired of your complaints. You are like a broken record. I'm happy for your sake that the women's basketball team (22-6) will reward your loyalty this year with an NCAA appearance.

Wvitbear-you follow high school basketball as much as anyone on our website but hardly any of the players attend Cal. I don't understand your argument because you seem quite hypocritical to me.

I might as well not put "OT" on my threads because people like you don't follow the guidelines anyway.

As per Raoul's WBBlog, we offered Devin Cosgriff, 5'10 G, back in 2022 for the Class of 2026.

"Grass is always greener..." as the saying goes.
Charmin also had a stellar early recruiting class (with Michelle) with 5-stars, etc but it fell apart with Covid, players unhappy about playing time, etc. Let's see how this new Virginia coach is doing in a couple of years. lol.

3 top 60 recruits from Oakland and multiple from O Tech. Sure sounds like the Hampton, AGL, Sneed Walker and Morris class. That wasn't a bad one!

A very good class. I saw Gray-Lawson and Hampton win the state high school basketball toruney in Sacramento. Sneed went to St. Mary's of Berkeley where Cowling went to high school. Walker was from the Valley and Morris from the city.

What about Aclanes and SRV. We have a SRV player on our team. Both public schools that don't have players from all over. and they like us.

I checked the other week and saw Acalanes was a #1 seed and 27-1! No idea if they have any D1 players but you'd assume so with that record.

Doing some research, I found that their two stars seem to be Dulci Vail, a 6' forward and Karyss Lacanlale, a 5'5" point guard. Both the Class of 2025. Vail is headed to Cal Poly SLO and Lacanlale to Saint Martin's University in the State of Washington.

So, neither appear to be Power 5 Conference players.

A note on Acalanes (with a Cal reference to keep wvit happy):

The lead assistant is Lexy Tamony, and people close to the program give her a lot of credit for the Dons' success this year. She's been a head coach before, but also played at Cal after graduating from Carondelet.

That said, neither Acalanes nor San Ramon Valley has elite talent. Northern California is just down this year, except for Mitty and Folsom.

We are recruiting the sophomore from Folsom. We have done very well in the past from Folsom. they seem to like us.

CCS Open Division Semi-Finals:
---------------------------------------------
Archbishop Mitty 66, Archbishop Riordan 32.
Pinewood 25, Woodside Priory 19 halftime

Winners play on Friday night at Santa Clara University for CCS Championship.

Mitty is susceptible to being upset by a good all-around team because the current players are struggling to hit outside shots. The Monarchs get layups off of their press, offensive rebound putbacks & tons of free throws. They also play solid defense except inside (without 6-2 McKenna Woliczko).

Who You Got? | NorCalPreps.com

I have the Etiwanda info up the thread. Etiwanda upset Mater Dei and will face Ontario Christian on Saturday, 3-1, for the SoCal Championship. NorCal still has to go through their NorCal Open Division before it can send its winner to face Southern Cal's champ. The NorCal Open might be the eight teams listed above.

Archbishop Mitty held off Pinewood 59-51 for the CCS Championship at Santa Clara University. The Monarchs jumped out to an early 20-point lead, but the Panthers whittled away at that margin for the rest of the game and cut it down to six points. Archbishop Mitty missed most of their outside shots and a bunch of free throws in the final quarter. Pinewood hit mostly long range three pointers and free throws.

IMO, AM will not win the NorCal Open this year because the team can't score enough. The Monarchs survived tonight because of their defense. Without 6-2 McKenna Wolizcko, Mitty doesn't have an inside presence this year.

If there's a superior team, let them represent NorCal at the State Championship vs Southern California champ.
GO BEARS! go mitty!

McClatchy upset Folsom by 11 points!
Clovis West held on to defeat Clovis by 9 in OT.
