Some thoughts on the game day experience

We are very lucky to have Matt Foley as P.A. announcer. This is particularly notable when he's absent and we get that kid who yells "three ball!" (Cringe.)

I appreciate the native tribe land acknowledgment but think it's odd that they ask us to support local businesses owned by native peoples' without telling us what those business are. This could use an update.

The hype song played before the team takes the court needs to be replaced. I think that neither fans nor players appreciate the heavy metal inspired screaming the "singer" does. The music accompanying it is fine.

I saw a few vendors in the stands toward the end of the season. Absolutely not. If one ever blocks my view for so much as an air ball I'll raise holy hell.

How about during time outs having videos of past players of note, or fantastic finishes or great teams. A bit of team history would be nice.

More Cal band, less ear-splitting piped in music.

Giveaway days might help attendance.

Your thoughts?

Diversify their music. Let me know when they play their first country song. I would play Willie Nelson's "On the road again ." when introducing the visiting team.

When we have the Teddy Bear toss we should play Picnic time for Teddy Bears .

As a musician, you are right the music is too loud. more of the Straw Hat Band.

I have asked this before and didn't get a meaningful answer: how much will it cost in donations to eliminate ALL of the canned music and "everybody clap your hands", etc.?

One minor addition: Many times after a break in the action the scoreboard stats display is replaced by a static image until play resumes. That's when I'd like to check the stats.

Excellent point stu. For fans like us, putting the stats up on the board during timeouts is the best time to take a look. We would rather do that than take our eyes off the action.

Here's another thing (but it probably won't fly.) I think the "pre starting lineup video" is too long. It becomes anti-climatic. I know it's something the team produces, but I really think that making it as long as it is ruins the mood. They should cut the time of that thing in half.

Here is anoth4r monr quibble. when the Mic men do the cheer having one side yell GO and the other side yell BEARS. They should do it East and west sides instead of the two end zones.

I've been saying this to people for years. It's tedious. I watch it the first time they play it but after that I used that time to check other scores on my phone.

Wow, you are watching too many TikTok videos if you think the intro video is too long. I love it

Not sure what the Tik Tok angle is. A lot of fans such as myself have seen it about 14 times this year. After a while, anything gets a little old. Just thought a shorter video may do better. Or doing a couple of new ones as the season moves on. Just my take.

think it's too long as a fan that has seen it at about 14 timers this year.

Agree too long but do other schools do the same. How is it done at 'Stanford'?

people blame tik tok on people having a shorter attention span than before

they keep the video mostly the same, but change up the game highlights each time

I think the women's game day atmosphere is better than the men's most of the time. More promotions, more coach engagement, and at least this season, more exciting games with players that are easy to love, especially because there was much more player continuity

there are plenty of improvements that can be made to the women's game day atmosphere, but length of the hype video doesn't seem one of them (at least to most people)

The amplifiers are set to lower volume at the women's games. That's a huge improvement for me.

Again, to this subject. As an older guy, it amazes me how much hype there is in today's sports in general. It's really become rather ridiculous. If it's overused it defeats the purpose. For players and fans that have been going to the games all season, do you really think that one minute video is doing anything to fire up the crowd at the game? I've been to almost every game this season and after a few games I've noticed that when the video ends Haas is pretty silent. Again this is just my opinion, not sure what others think unless you ask them.

Really?! Glad I don't go to the men's games.
