Marta was interviewed after the game. When asked how she was in good shape in so many words, She didn't give specifics, and said that she is taking care of her body and mind wearing a big smile. She said it matters now and five years down the road. She is in great shape, is conditioned and exudes her excitement about the game as she did at Cal.
The announcers in the ESPN studio said TCU is the oldest team in the NCAA. Watching games this early in the season, it is obvious the players are young and not as experienced due to the Covid extra year having expired. Cal benefitted last season having 5th year seniors on the floor. Rich Campbell, the TCU coach recruits terrific transfer players, ie: Olivia Miles(Notre Dame). Plus, he is an excellent WBB coach.
Marta came to Cal soon after taking time off from Tenn WBB, to be with her mother who died from Cancer. She has some fortitude, a positive attitude, and is an excellent teammate. Hopefully, with the WNBA expansion teams in Portland and Toronto in the near future, she will be drafted, and embark on a professional basketball career. TCU was mentioned as a potential Final Four team with improvement as the season proceeds. It was exciting to watch Marta play for the BEARS for two seasons. One can only wish her the BEST!
