Cal's victory over Stanford puts the Quad 2 record as 1-1 and Quad 3 also at 1-1. Presumably the 1 Quad 3 win was over Harvard (#65). Cal went up one slot to 57 with yesterday's win, and remains 12th in the NET in the ACC. Notre Dame is #30, Louisville is #8. Stanford stayed at #36. Quad 1 record is 0-7, Quad 4 is 10-0. Oh, those next two games...

Cal's wins (12):

Harvard: #65
Idaho: #120
Wake Forest: #121

Charlotte: #151
St. Mary's: #167
Sacramento State: #219
Pacific: #228
Boston College: #256
San Jose State: #322

Syracuse: #41
Auburn: #67
Missouri: #77

The Auburn and Missouri losses were really costly. I think we need a couple of big upsets to make up for them.

I'm guessing Auburn was the Quad 2 loss and Missouri the Quad 3...ouch...

I think we are definitely a "different" team now compared to what we were in late November/early December when those two games took place.

It took a while, but I think we've gelled as a team. More focused. More cohesive.

It takes a while to integrate two transfers and two freshies into a starting lineup. Then one of those freshies misses all of our January conference games.

Having defeated Stanford, there is now still some chance we can make the NCAA tournament. ESPN has nine ACC teams in the tournament in their latest bracketology. We currently stand in 13th place. We would now have to beat many of the higher placed teams above us in remaining games - Louisville, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Miami, Clemson and Georgia Tech - while not losing to any of those below us. Lulu now heating up gives us at least a chance.

Coulda woulda shoulda but ugh, if we could've just held on to those 4th quarter leads against USC and Duke... we'd be in the bracketology right now.

Road win against GT moved Cal up two slots to 52 (highest ranking of the year) and GT down 5 to 99. Pitt is #258. Cal has already played the top 7 in the ACC, going 2-5.
