I've never seen so many shots in a quarter seem fully in the hoop and just…rattle out. Things are just not falling.

great news is another 2026 ncca tournament resume building win for the bears (16-10, 7-6 in the acc)!!
a critical factor in the key victory wuz better passing & ball handling which is benefiting from the return of true frosh puff mcmorris, only 11 turnovers for the game
virginia tech on sunday at haas pavilion will be another opportunity to earn a spot in march madness!!

What a terrible/wonderful second half. The Bears left their offense in the locker room after half time. Fortunately the defense and clutch free throw shooting stayed with us. Gritty win, the kind of game we were losing earlier in the year. Nice to see Puff back out there, she nailed a couple of threes. That's seven of nine with a very good Va Tech team coming to Haas next. Hopefully folks will show up for that one, disappointing crowd tonight. And oh by the way....Go Bears!!!

The Bears continue to insist on passing the ball into the post. Time after time after time. You don't think the opposition doesn't know that? If Sakima has her defender sealed and it's 1 on 1? Sure. But usually there a second, sometimes a third defender nearby and that's when the TOs happen.
When the Bears can break the paint, good things usually happen. You have to mix it up. Drive and kick, drive and finish, drive and dish.
Cal's defense was very good tonight. Not perfect, but very good and the Bears scrapped and fought and won a lot of loose balls.
The Bears will play 7ish players again on Sunday with Naya/Lola getting some minutes but not many. Neither stood out tonight although Naya had a big bucket in the 2nd half to help stabilize things. Lola was not good tonight.
Only 11 TOs, thankfully.
The next biggest game of the season is on Sunday - should be another good one!

I'm happy to see Puff apparently able to play at full speed. Really helped our depth. I'd love to see Taylor back as well.
Sakima really put on a clinic, though I'd like to see her hold the ball higher to protect it from being stripped.

My cardiologist is not happy.
Stats I found interesting: Cal had zero blocks…when did that last happen? Virginia, #1 in the national, had 7 blocks…and Cal held them below their average (7.3- ha!) And, again praise for Cal defense…Virginia averages 77 points a game! Cal limited them to almost 20 below their average!

I give partial credit to the young girls from the Julia Morgan School for Girls in attendance.
Last night was the most disappointed I've been with attendance all season. Hoping Sunday and the final weekend make up for it. I wish more people appreciated what a combative, spirited team we have and what excellent representatives they are of the university.

Mine too!
Cal WBB promotes the games on social media (Facebook, Instagram) plus at the games.
I don't understand why the attendance hasn't risen as this fun season has progressed.

I've looked at the attendance for our home games and our road games, and most of the road games had similar or poorer attendance than the games at Haas.. There were just 2 road games that had significantly higher attendance than our home games. It would be great to have somewhat higher attendance, but I think your expectations are unreasonable, especially when the ACC gives us horrible game times, like the 3pm weekday game vs. Duke and the recent 11am Sunday game.
