Remarkable performance by Charmin and her staff, along with the players themselves wanting to accomplish more together, Hope that they will all get a degree or some type of certificate from Cal along with an NCAA appearance.

In the modern era, it is not easy to bring back everyone that you want. Charmin Smith painted a promising picture for next season and this group bought in. She now has to motivate 4-5 portal transfers to join them. GO BEARS!

This is the best single bit of news I've seen about the team in many moons. I am now officially excited for next year. I believe having these returnees will be a factor in bringing in more talent through the portal. And how great is that Lulu will have done four years here? That's such a rarity these days. Oh by the way...Go Bears!!!

With our top 4 players returning next season and promising freshmen coming in, and probably a couple in coming transfers next season looks like a high confidence of returning to the NCAA

I'm also loving that our 1A player is playing her entire career at Cal and our 1B player is playing her 3rd and last college season at Cal

I can't help but watch highlights from Russell and Perkins (two Aussie freshmen) and think, wow, this team is going to be really good next year. Russell can really shoot; her three-point stroke is smooth. Add a few smart portal moves, and you start to think this group could match or even surpass that 25-win team from two seasons ago… and hopefully make a deeper NCAA tournament run.

Good stuff! Here's the new roster for next season. Thirteen scholarship players and a walk-on. I would imagine that Charmin Smith might take another guard. It could be a pure point guard or combo guard that can score. Heck-take the best player available that is interested in Cal. The coach will likely keep one scholie open for unexpected happenings. If it's not filled, it can be given to Sofia Bowes, again.

2026-27 Women's Basketball Roster - California Golden Bears Athletics

This is a much deeper team with 9 or10 players capable of being part of coach Smith's regular rotation. Last season, the Bears typically had 7 available. Five of our players will be seniors. GO BEARS!

The Cal social media folks have done a nice job with these. Impressed overall with how Charmin and her team have managed this fraught post-season portal period.
