The box score shows Gisella fouling out in 12 minutes, Naya in 13, and Lulu in 34. Were those due to aggressive play or quick whistles?

USC had 14 steals! Are they that good?

Jovana played only 5 minutes. Did Naya play all of her 13 minutes at center? I was hoping to see Naya playing more at forward.

Seemed like quick whistles to me. They didn't play anymore aggressively than usual. On Gisella's last foul, she looked pretty disappointed.

I don't know that I've ever been more pleased with a Cal loss. Well worth the 12 bucks.

Rebounding, three-pointers, and all those energetic new players! Sorry I missed it, being away on the north coast. (But I drove up listening to 95.7 as the Valks beat Atlanta, so I can't complain.)

G hardly played and her 3rd and 5th foul were non-existent

That takes our second best offense and best wing defender out of the game

Thanks for link which I watched although it ended with 2 minutes left

Ruby is listed at 5-8 which is a decent height for a PG but she looks quite a lot smaller than her opponents. Perhaps it's just that she's so slight or that the ucla and sc players are so long

But she is crafty with the ball and plays like an experienced PG. she also is a solid defender. She needs to hit her open 3s and get stronger but I think cal fans will be fortunate to watch her develop for 4 or maybe even 5 years.

I expected good things from Zara although did not expect an aggressive, dominant player. So what I saw today was great… a stretch 4 who can get hot from 3

Dowell is so aggressive on her drives but takes wild low percentage shots. If she doesn't get the foul calls I'm concerned her efficiency will be down.

Dowell is a similar player to Sheppard (both are drive first players with only adequate shooting)

Our centers are solid defensively and rebounding except against elite/athletic players. Vs UCLA they played an elite C. Against USC they played athletic/long Cs.

It will be interesting how they do against mid major and the average ACC teams.

One thing that is clear is every opponent is going to chase Lulu and G off the line and defend our posts one-on-one

Every good team we lost to recently had good mid range players. Jazzy, Juju today, UCLA's freshman guard, Columbia's guard

I was hoping the new Cal players would bring it or returning players would develop it but I haven't seen it in our 2 exhibitions

Here's a YouTube link to full game, not sure how long it will remain online as it's not "official"

Lulu with 25 pts, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals despite being the focus of SC's defense and running her off the line

I do find it annoying that on certain forums (I won't name) poster going on and on about how great USC looks, etc, their box score, etc...... I had to follow up with response:

Quote:

Here's the Cal side of the ledger re: box score.... and for anyone interested in the Bears (like me): Twidale paced all scorers and rebounders with 25 points and nine rebounds. Shannon Dowell and Taylor Barnes rounded out the Bears in double figures with 17 and 15 points respectively. Cal outshot USC nine to three from beyond the arc and had a 45-39 rebounding edge.

Especially true for an exhibition game!
