It's funny because I thought the same thing viewing online games. Cavanaugh looked like she had a better handle, was quicker, better shooter. Was confused why she was ranked so high

She was rated lower by Hoopgurlz #17 and even lower by FullCourt's (early) rankings at #38. IIRC, her ranking went up after committing to UConn. Likely not a coincidence. IIRC, she committed to UConn before Gabby Williams and Kia Nurse committed. Both are off to great starts for UConn. Had they committed before Edwards, Geno probably would not have pursued her.

Funny thing is HG/Olsen's tends to have certain players way lower/higher than the 3 other services. Sometimes he's right, other times hes wrong. I guess he may be right in this situation. I don't think thats the reason her ranking is high though, if so, Ekmark would be a lot higher in some services. Remember, Geno offered the Samuelson sisters, Englen, Gorecki, Peyton Little, etc in the past. So, its not like he only offers top rated kids. Plus Edwards had offers from Louisville, Kentucky, Tennessee, etc.

Speaking of Ekmark, I doubt she is going to ever get the play time at UConn. I also cant see her wanting to ride the pines for 4 years. Perhaps if she does decide to leave she would fit Cals needs for an outside shooter.

Not really a transfer but this seemed like the right topic to put this in.
At the end of the Oregon vs USC game yesterday the announcer on the Pac12 broadcast, mentioned that Kiki Alofaituli, for USC, has taken a leave of absence from USC for personal reasons.
I had heard she is done playing there. However, the door may still be open for her return if its called a "leave" vs departure from the program.
So far, since the summer, the following players are no longer with USC, either on their own or asked to leave.
Calhoun
Crook
Gibbs
Butler
Alofaituli.
USC now down to 10 players who dress.

Cal will graduate four and is bringing in four new recruits next season, correct? This still nets an inadequate ten players on the roster...Is there an chance that the Bears bring in someone in the late signing period for 2015? Why not grab a juco outside shooter like so many teams have done...GO BEARS!

Bobbie K reported on the UCLA Forum that Recee Caldwell is looking to transfer from the Bruins.
@macsmith413: UCLA G Recee Caldwell has requested a transfer from the Bruin program. Caldwell missed last two months of season with knee injury. #espnW
One of three Bruins to play in the 2014 McDonald's All-American game ... made the USA Basketball Women's U18 National Team and started every game for the Americans, winning gold at the 2014 FIBA Americas Championship in August in Colorado Springs, Colo. ... was also on the Team USA U16 squad with Jordin Canada that won a gold medal
Caldwell was ranked as one of the Top 10 players in the country by most recruiting services including No. 6 by Prospects Nation, No. 7 by PB Media, No. 9 by ESPN's HoopGurlz and No. 19 by Full Court ... also ranked near the top in the point guard rankings, coming in as the No. 2 rated PG by PB Media, the No. 3 rated PG by HoopGurlz and Prospects Nation and the No. 5 PG by Full Court ...

Really not that surprise. I think at the time I predicted someone would transfer because of the over abundance of PGs!!

If you recall, I am not a fan of the UCLA head coach. And I like her a lot more than I do Mulkey! Caldwell has made her mistakes in choosing schools, but you have to say this. She is not shy about pulling the trigger to rectify them.
IMHO, she will find what she is looking for in a school. She'd probably be happy here in Berkeley, but does she fit into LG's Plan for the Future? Lindsay's call. Certainly not mine or anyone posting here. Her staff will have her ear, but that is their function. I think she would bring a lot to the Bears. We don't have anyone like her now unless it's the new guard from O'Dowd, but Caldwell is a much better shooter. Will Close let her transfer within the PAC12 or does Caldwell want to go back to Texas?
