I flew home today after witnessing the Big Game debacle and decided to go to the WBB game to get rid of the bad taste in my mouth. Here are my non-expert comments: Regarding Brittany's shooting stats, about half of her misses came on good looks when she drove to the basket but the ball wouldn't drop. She was instrumental in our pressing defense forcing numerous turnovers, steals, and charging fouls on the opposing guards. In addition, most of Reshanda Gray's FGs came on perfectly-placed inlet passes from Brittany. Mikayla Cowling was our best 3-point shooter tonight, and she also drove for another basket and hit a couple of mid-range shots. Things to work on from tonight: better FT shooting, blocking out on rebounds, and having another big to back up for Reshanda.
I sat with Mikayla's parents as well as Gabby Green's mom and aunt and had a great time!

Thanks for the first-hand report. Everybody here is a Boyd fan. She has always been the ultimate warrior, and always fills up a stat sheet in valuable ways. In our Final Four year, she was a very valuable player, but did not always have the ball in her hands, and was not the team leader. That was Layshia Clarendon. Last year, with Layshia gone, Brittany tried to win games by herself too often through most of the season. However, at the end, she overcame that tendency, and the team played better. She wants badly to be a great shooter, just like she excels at everything else, and has put countless hours to improve. But some people simply are not going to be great shooters, and need to contribute in other ways. We are all hoping some good balance can be achieved this year.
