http://scores.espn.go.com/wnba/boxscore?gameId=400787433

looks like she got the start (with Wiggins and Prince not playing).

7 points on 2/10 shooting from the field (clean it up, girl!).

I didn't watch, but read comments that she looked good out there besides her shooting. The other guards for NY didn't do much. I wonder if they try to acquire another guard soon. I thought Orrange was in decent shape to make the team, too, but one poster who watched said: "I was rooting for her but it's like Amber raised her hand and said, "Please cut me!" Zero points, 1 assist, 5 TO's and -12 in 10 minutes."

Jacki Gemelos logged 10 points on 4/7 shooting from the field for Chicago. I read that she looked good, even on defense, and could potentially be a threat to make the final roster.

Elsewhere, Tulsa beat San Antonio. Even without the elusive (and now injured, IIRC) Liz Cambage, I think Tulsa will finally have a breakout year.

It will be an interesting year in the W, with so many players not playing (for one reason or another), and a few rookies with promise.

But what's hard for college fans and college players to understand is just how good the league really is, and just how much harder it is to succeed there than in college. Boyd's an exceptional college player, as was Gray, but I don't expect either to do all that well this year. Both need to shoot better, for one, because the quality of defense and the quality of coaching makes it much, much harder to score close to the basket.

That's the problem that really athletic players have when they go up to the next level, be it from high school to college or college to the Pro's. The Post player just keep getting bigger and better defensively so those drives made against lesser competition will no longer be there. Players should begin on expanding their game while in high school even if the can put up big numbers against the competition, because the best time to expand your game is before you really have to in order to compete.

Really Clay??? It was the first game... I think both will do just fine. This statement sounds just like the one you made her freshman year at Cal.

So which part of Clay's comment you disagree with? He is 100% correct in his comments.

You have your opinion and I have mine. I have been around Clay long enough to know that he's not a fan of Boyd. I love the game and support all especially our local kids.

This was an exhibition game. This was Boyd's first time on the floor for the WNBA. Give her time. Aside from shooting, seems like she did some nice, Brittany-like things during her debut. As I recall Skyler Diggins (and other rookies) have taken a while to adjust. I think it really takes a full season to get the hang of playing in the WNBA (vs. college). It will be fun to watch. Just paid for my WNBA Live Access. BTW, this code knocks a couple bucks off the $14.99 price (WNBALA2015). It's actually a great bargain and allows one to watch the various games, even those that have already ended.... Here's the link: http://liveaccess.wnba.com/

As a fan of Boyd, I would love to see her be the best she can be. She is as talented as they come. In a game she gives it her all and leaves nothing on the court. Her defense and rebounding are outstanding. Maybe the team doesn't practice shooting.

Practice is something you have to do individually. and you need to start earlier. when you watch Steph currie, you know that is the prime thing he works on. While others are racing up and down the court , he is playing H O R S E.

Really? Do you remember what I said about her after I saw her for the first time? Do you remember me writing about her battles with NCS? Do you remember me saying how well she played at USA Basketball?

Granted, I have criticized her coaches, and to some degree her, for allowing her to just get to the rim as a young player instead of working on her outside shot. I have also commented that she occasionally makes bad decisions. I just posted on another board that Boyd is "tough, fearless and physical."

But I don't like her. I'm an old white guy from the suburbs whose best team was full of white and Asian girls from Campolindo, so you know what that means ...

If you want to call me out, back it up.

As a parent whose son and daughter played at a high level in high school and college, I can understand that criticism hurts. But watching supporters who give unconditional support to their kids and seeing it hinder their development, I've become less sympathetic to these supporter's views.

Reshanda Gray had 10 points and 5 rebounds in the Lynx's loss today. Whalen also had 10.

So are you ever going to respond? Or do you just slam people and then go happily on your way?

I want you to detail what evidence you have that I'm not a fan of Boyd -- except for pointing out she isn't perfect. Or is that what it takes to qualify as a fan?

Hey clay for what it is worth I agree with you
Boyd is a great talent with a lot of skills
But if she had learned to shoot from outside it would have helped her tremendously both at cal and NBA

Clay, You may be a fan now because she proved you wrong... "She's not a D1 player"
like I have said before always be aware of who you say things too and aware of who is near you when you say these things. I don't judge people from what others say about them, I only judge on what my ears hear.

And it's not just Boyd... IJS

When did I ever say Boyd was not a D1 player? I saw her as a freshman and she was dazzling.

Again, if you're going to call me out for not liking Boyd, some proof would be good.

All that said, she has been better than I expected, but does that mean I didn't think she was a good player? She's done just fine so far in the WNBA, and it looks like she'll have a good career there.
