After 5 games, Brittany has shot 16 free throws and hasn't miss one yet. Who would had thought that! Her overall field goal shooting % has dropped off after the 1st game and current she is at .32%. She is 2nd on the team in steals and tied with a teammate in assist. and 3rd highest in rebounds. Think she is doing as expected as a rookie but needs to continual to improve on her shooting & needs to cut down on her TO.

One of the surprising things was that after years of having no rotation on the ball, the last few games she developed rotation and her free throws improved. I believe she was perfect from the line in the Texas game, although I could be wrong.

This question has been asked before, but why can't Cal coaches teach their players how to shoot? Bigs and perimeter players alike. It seems like if players don't arrive with shooting skills, they don't acquire it while at Cal.

My first reaction to this thread topic was simply, looks like she finally got some FT coaching. Cal coaches seem to lack that skill set or just don't care. Not sure which. No excuse for some of the dismal FTM % Cal has put up in recent years.

My account was only meant for Brittany. Watching the warriors, I noticed that James now has a rotation on his outside shot. He didn't have that rotation when he came into the league. Some where he picked it up.

Teaching shooting is not easy. Steve Kerr is probably as good a shot as you will ever find as a coach and Steph and Clay are excellent free throw shooters. But the Warriors have some putrid free throw shooters. How come the Warriors can't teach them to shoot free throws,?

Good point. Heck Brit could have been practicing but it just may be clicking now. It takes thousands of reps and there may be less pressure on her at this level as she is not expected to carry the big load.

This is also her lively hood and she needs to continue to improve on all phases of her game. Practice and confidence will go a long way in her freethrows.

LG tweeted that Gabby is one of the two shooting instructors at one of the camps. Pictured Gabby with the ball showing the kids how to shoot. She had her right hand about eye level or above with the palm facing directly up. I'm pretty sure that in games I've seen Gabby shooting with the ball to the side below her head and pushing it up with a little bunny hop. Better than before she got to Cal where it looked like she was shooting from the waist. Sabrina and Natalie Chou both shoot the ball starting around chin level or below, but Natalie's is more to the side. Maybe they should start girls with smaller and lighter balls early on so they won't develop such low shots.

Steph Currie and Steve Kerr had relative low release points for men. It's just that he has such a quick release.

Through the end of the preseason she was still shooting at her Cal-infected rate of 63%... so the only logical conclusion could be that Laimbeer and the Liberty staff finally admitted defeat and caved in to demands to hire Rick Barry to give Boyd a personal 72-hr intensive FT tutorial. ;-)

Now they just need to find some 6th grade coach to show the team how to make layups!

Opponents will mercilessly exploit the deficiencies in her game unless does continue to improve her game.

Saw another tweet by LG where Jeff is not letting the players go to their strong side. She said by the end of summer there will be no weak hand. Also showed Jeff and Charmin working with Gabby and Nina on pick and roll. It seems like they are trying to work with the players to improve their skills. But in this and the shooting drills months ago, it seems like it is always Gabby and Nina working out. I don't know if LG only comments of drills with them, but it does seem it is mainly Jeff working with Gabby and Nina. Her tweets about other players are usually about social things.
