I thought I got home too late to see the Liberty game tonight, but thankfully with a late start time in Phoenix, there was still 2:52 left in the 4thQ when I turned it on -- Liberty trailing by 4.

So Boyd promptly makes a steal, then another,... and then another! -- adding 2 FTs (2-4) and a layup to the 7 points she had already scored in the 4th (13 for the game overall), sparking the Liberty from 7 down to a 2pt win.

This, one game after her rookie teammate Kiah Stokes had sparked their 4th quarter defensive effort with 5 blocked shots (8 overall) to give NY sole possession of first place in the East.

Lambeer appreciates tough defense from his Pistons days so Boyd is a player after his own heart. She can provide a spark!

Well, with WNBA All Access (around $12) you can watch games that are over in the archive...that's what I did after I'd read what a great game Boyd had....quite handy and usually excellent quality stream.

Boyd had an uncanny ability for steals
it's extremely hard to get a steal off a pro player as they are all quick and strong ball handlers
it's something I'm going to miss in the coming years watching Cal

She is a disruptive creature, our B.B. I like the idea that Laimbeer and Smith, or whoever, chose her to go out there and make trouble at a point when the Liberty really needed as many defensive stops as they could get.

The Liberty play in Seattle tomorrow at Japan Night in honor of the Storm's Japanese rookie post Ramu Tokashiki, Japanese-American friendship, etc. Should be fun.
