Courtney Ekmark Height: 6-0 Position: Guard

Just curious, was she recruited by Cal? Or did she verbal early to UConn and limited her offers.

Man! UConn just has too much talent.

Here are her stats

2014-15 SEASON
Saw time in 28 games for the Huskies, averaging 1.9 points and 1.4 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per contest ... Scored a career-high eight points and was 3-3 from the floor in only 10-minutes of action in the win against

HIGH SCHOOL
Played three years at St. Mary's High School in Phoenix, leading the Knights to an 87-3 record that included a 49-game winning streak, three straight Division I State Titles, a No. 1 ranking in the USA Today Super 25 in 2012 and a No. 2 ranking in 2013 ... Averaged 19.6 points, five rebounds and four steals in being named Arizona's Gatorade Player of the Year. Was coached by her father Curtis, opted to be home-schooled in 2013-14.

She verballed to UConn pretty early...soph year? I remember it was like a week after all those girls from the c/o 2013 (so a year older than her) Diamond DeShields et al. verballed to UNC.

I don't think we were ever linked with her. I thought she had Stanford written all over her (I think #1 in her HS class academically, before home schooling senior year) and I remember she was named MVP of the Duke WBB camp.

When I saw your post, I thought it meant she requested a transfer from UConn (which seems like a possibility).

Just curious. After the performance of Kia Nurse at the Pan American games and incoming freshman KLS and Naphesa Collier (She will be a good one) playing time will again be a challenge for some much talent on the bench. I just wondered if she was recruited much on the West Coast. I am sure she will stay and work hard to get on the court. I heard Stanford was on her list like KLS.

A lot of people were surprised Ekmark picked UConn. She's a tall shooter (think Karlie Samuelson, but not Katie Lou) who took full advantage of a roster full of D-1 players and her father as coach. Her senior year, when all the other D-1 players graduated, she didn't play for her high school team at all, so it was hard to judge how she'd play without a supporting cast that was superior to its opponents at every position 99% of the time.

She still might emerge at UConn, but Saniya Chong and Gabby Williams were both ahead of her last year, and as always, they have quality recruits.

If she were to transfer from UConn, you'd think Arizona State would be her first choice as it's very close to home, but it's possible the whole Pac-12 would be in play. I haven't heard any rumbles about her leaving, though I'm not really tapped in to the UConn rumor mill.
