This is the craziest game I have ever seen. Sac St. presses EVERY Cal possession, and Cal is just killing them. Cal never has to set up on offense, each possession is an easy basket for Cal. Cal must be shooting 75%.

Sac St subs 5 players every 45 seconds. Announcer can't keep up, and just says "Sac St.subs five players" each time.

Half, Cal up 68-49!!!!! Sacto run and gun. Got many pts off 2nd or 3rd efforts, despite they are much shorter. Kristine leads Cal with 21pt, Courtney 13, and nina 9. Gabby another subpar game with at least 5 TO in first half.

Gabby should be a 4, not a 1.

Villanova held Sac State to 54 points by playing defense. Cal has allowed the Hornets 50 points at half. The Bears are letting the opponent shoot their threes. Cal only caused 4 Sacto TOs in the first half. GG had 5 & Courtney Range 3 turnovers at intermission. No excuse to throw the ball away on 3 on 2 fast breaks...

Cal was up by thirty, 111-81, until they folded down the stretch. The Bears were outscored 18-6 to finish the game. The Hornets hit 20 treys for 99 points. They coaxed 26 turnovers out of the Bears...Cal had 36 assists basically running a fast break drill the entire forty minutes.

First, I (along with about 300 others in attendance) was highly entertained. Sac State pressed, pushed the ball up, and shot any three they could get off, some from NBA range.

Don't let the stats disturb you. Sac State made 19 threes, but missed 60 more. Yes, 60. That adds up to only 24%. More than a few of the resulting long rebounds ended up in Hornet hands - 2/3 of their rebounds were offensive!

Cal had 26 turnovers, but that's on a whole lot of possessions. Break the press, get an assist and a layup. Cal ended up shooting 69% from the field with 37 assists on 52 made baskets. Our 117 points was a school record, and I wouldn't be surprised if each quarter was also a school record.

Kristine finished with 43 points and 13 rebounds. Kayla just missed a triple-double with 11 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds. She also got half of a double technical after a personal foul but continued playing well with 4 fouls. Gabby had 10 assists, 6 rebounds, and all 5 of our steals. Courtney made 9 of 10 from the field before falling with what looked like an ankle sprain. She was carried off the court but was walking after the game. Asha played her usual good game and Nina and Mo looked solid, but it was hard to stand out in such a crazy game.

The officials called no timeouts to review plays and did not otherwise interfere with the game. They earned their Gatorade.

Wow, that game was exciting! I didn't understand why Sac State kept pressing after the first quarter when Cal just kept getting easy bucket after easy bucket. As things went on though, I wonder if their strategy really was to just tire Cal out, given that Sac State had 3 full squads to swap out ad naseum. By the 4th quarter Cal players were sweating and winded and looking so tired, rightful so, they'd ran and played 3x as much as any one of Sac's squads.

So many times too they left Anigwe virtually undefended in the post. I was wondering if the Sac State coach just thought to himself, "well she is indefensible so let's not even bother." Anigwe answered, "Don't bother indeed".

What I really like was that one on one, Kristine did not just overpower or out-jump her defender, but she also relied on her skills--footwork and touch, for example--to score. And before she got injured, Courtney Range did much the same.

Good to hear. Impressive for a freshman.
