Well the 10 minute quarters and 2 foul shots when you reach your 5th foul.

But what i didn't realize till last night was that if you called a time out and had the length of the court to go, they would inbound at half court. Much easier to score from there. And you need to conserve those timeouts for that occasion.

Last but not least, the New Oski. Does anyone notice Oski has gotten more lively. I first noticed it at the men's game when he grabbed the mop they use for the floors and he cleaned the rim and the back board glass. But last night he hit anall time high. Danced in a routine with the cheerleaders that wasn't half bad. Kicked souvenir basketballs into the crowd. And quite expertly I may add. Rode a trike around the floor. Joked with the refs and was the most animated I have ever seen since he threw the pie at Gary Payton's parents.

Getting the inbound after the timeout on their side of the court really made a huge difference when there was 3 seconds left and UCLA was down 3. They have been doing that in the pros for a long time. Seems like a dumb rule to me. What if you call a timeout in football and the ball is advanced 50 yards?

I believe that new rule only applies in the final minute. I was surprised how it came into play last night multiple times.

I guess we were got of timeouts after the first OT. After UCLA made their 3 to tie the game there was still 3.2 or 3.7 seconds left but after Gabby received the inbound pass she through it to Asha with no urgency at all and just stood there and let the clock expired.

Though probably the least important rule change (relative to the game itself), as a fan I like the quarters. A couple of timeouts that come at what seems natural places, instead of being a media timeout because of time on the clock.

Yep. Another mental error (see- no reference to any kind of IQ). Thomas had plenty of time to get up court and either get off a shot, pass it to a teammate or maybe be fouled. Instead she just froze. A freshman moment? Probably. But being the gifted player she is, had she been fully in tune with the game situation, there was time to make a play. (Hope that wasn't too dark an observation. Just remember it was OBear073akaSMFan who brought it up.) Anyway, I'm pretty sure we were out of timeouts when this play happened. At least I hope so. Hate to think the coaching staff would have not called time in that situation. I know they were yelling at her to advance the ball, as was our whole section.

Good thing we won.
