8 and 10 with 17 wins would get them into the NCAA. Right now according to Sagarin, the Pac 12 is the number one conference in the country. I believe we will get 8 teams into the tourney. And 8 and 10 will not be 8th place. Also, we have good non conference wins in Louisville, Nebraska, and UCLA. No bad non conference losses in Texas A@M and St. Marys.

Fortunately, Louisville seems to be improving (they just beat Duke), so that win will help. Nebraska recently suffered 3 straight losses, including getting destroyed by Maryland, but the program is generally respected, so even an OT win at home will be a decent asset. Texas A&M has two losses to unranked teams, but also two wins over ranked teams (and that's excluding the win over us when we were ranked) and has generally been taking care of business pretty well this year. The loss to this year's St. Mary's team doesn't look as bad as it might have other years.

I'm so disappointed. Lose both AZ games, then squander lead to let the Utes in....a team that is rebuilding! And granted they did have some injuries too last year...

Wow! Congrats to you Kookiebean at our expense! Lol They didn't give up, kept chippin away... AND you have some good pieces coming next season- Kiana Moore (2016 Vanden HS, JBS) is my favorite player to watch at AAU games. Like the entire Vanden team.

You guys have a great team. Utah is on the move. Just loving Pac12 getting better. Love them Vanden girls. Going to watch Vanden and Bishop Gorman in Stockton this weekend. Another future Ute plays for Bishop Gorman.

I think the WBB team needs to worry a lot less about what is going on in the rest of the nation and focus on what's up at home. This team is adrift right now, and needs to be rebalanced. Anyone out there who can do that?

I was out of town and couldn't see the game, but I noticed Erika had 5 rebounds and 8 assists! Congrats again!

Oh goodness, where are my manners! I forgot about Kookiebean's daughter at Utah. 8 assists...that's no joke! Bet she can throw some shiny dimes ;-)

I have to side with Schroeder on this one. If the Bears finish 8-10 in the Pac-12, we're looking at a very very low RPI. We're only 66 right now with a 1-3 Pac-12 record. That means we would split 7-7 the rest of the way to finish at 8-10. The only way we could possibly finish with a high enough RPI as an at-large bid would be if we knocked off half of the top teams with those 7 remaining wins ... but that also means we would lose a few to bad teams. If we finish 8-10, we're in the WNIT

Complaining about the lack of a bench is pointless this season. The team is constituted as it is and that is not going to change. And part of that shortness is due to two late developments - the losses of Jefflo and Cavanaugh. And now Yue's foot injury. Add those three back in the mix, and there is no "short bench" to complain about.

One thing I learned in 35 years of business in competitive environments; you have to prepare for worst cases. Losing a few players is going to happen during all seasons. "I assumed nothing could go wrong so I wasn't prepared" is a bad excuse; and I think the coaches realize that now.

HOWEVER, I am not giving up on this season. There is a lot of talent on this team, and anything can happen in the Pac12 Playoffs. If they don't make the NCAA Tourney, winning the NIT with this team would be fine with me. I really like every single player on UCB.
