there is the Elite Spring Invitational. Looks like the Cal Stars will be participating and many others from the area and from other states too. Schools such as UCLA, UDAWG, Louisville, Maryland and etc will have coaches there. My guess Cal will be there too though I haven't seen anyone post any announcement if Cal will be there or not. http://www.eliteisearned.com/tournament-schedule.html I'm sure this is a showcase for those unsigned plus future prospects... :gobears:

Are you sure this is a "view" tournament for coaches. I only say so as the tournament at Boo Williams in Virginia is the weekend after. I didnt think there were 2 view weekends in April.

The Cal Stars Nike Elite (EYBL team) is not competing, the Nike Flight is although if you look at Stars schedule they both have this tournament listed...

Not sure if you are making reference to Boo Williams or the Elite Invitational but a Calstar elite team is playing at the Elite Invitational. Per Chris Hansen some of the players on this team Evina Westbrook Oregon 6A POY, Naje Murray, Taycee Wedin (?), Aquira Decosta, Retta Kakala and maybe another player from Oregon Aleah Goodman (Oregon 5A POY). Something tells be Cal Stars Nike Elite will have another great team this year though replacing SI will be a big chore.

BTW couple days ago coachG tweeted out that she couldn't attend an event ..cause she was on a recruiting trip. My guess she was in Alameda.

Cal Stars Elite was there, and looked really, really good. Didn't see LG, but I'm not there today.

I take back that coachG is in Alameda, there is a possibility that she was down in Socal at the "Cali Spring Forward" sponsored by Cal Swish. A bunch of Pac-12 coaches registered for this weekend's event, including Cal. Looks like Oakland Soldier with Sierra Smith perform well there and went 4-0. Is this the 1st year for a girls team to be sponsored by the Oakland Soldier? Wonder if the East Bay Explosion still exist. Have not heard anything from this one time power house.

Cali Spring Forward was a Cal Sparks event. Soldiers went 4-0, won 3 games by 35+, as well as a 70-59 win against Cal Sparks Gold (EYBL).

EBX had its own event at Chabot, but the team is not what it once was. It was funny, I heard a coach from Washington talking to his team after they'd lost a couple games, and he was saying he had spent a lot of time here in the past, and the best teams were the teams they'd just lost to.

Of course he was just trying to pump them up, but the turnover is pretty rapid at the top. There was a time EBX and the Orinda Magic were the powers. The Cal Ballaz were very good for years, but now it's the Cal Stars and the Soldiers (making a move on the girls' side with Pico Wilburn). The Orinda Magic have most of the Salesian girls and are pretty strong too, but it's always a moving target.

Cool! I guess Naje switched from EBX for her last AAU season...

Obear, I know couple girls who played with soldiers last season but I don't know how far back the girl side of the program goes...

The Soldiers' girls' program is new. They're trying to get the Nike nod in NorCal, but the Cal Stars will be tough to dislodge, I think.

I don't think the Soldiers are trying to dislodge the Cal Stars or any other club. I believe the Soldiers girls program was started to provide opportunities for elite girls in Nor Cal, as there are plenty, by putting them on a stage/platform which hasn't been provided for them in the past.
As a parent of a player who in many eyes is underrrated, I will say, this one tournament over the weekend has definitely raised her stock. Coaches from conferences we have yet to hear from are now reaching out. At the end of the day, that's what it's all about.

Best of luck to your daughter. Like Marshawn says, "it's all 'bout the action boss". Hope that she gets her pick of college offers.

SoCal has more than one EYBL team, would be nice to have a couple represent NorCal.

Exactly! We have more than enough talent in Nor Cal for 2 teams. It was definitely proven this weekend, but also throughout the years with teams like the CA Ballaz, who were loaded with talent.

Thanks! Definitely about the action, but being put in position to display your talent is also a key piece.

In this article it mentions coach Graves sitting as close to SI as possible etc... and with the previous mention of his son tweeting with SI- does that means she is headed to Oregon? (and With Coach LG in SoCal instead- has she given up hope?)

Thanks, that's good to know now for sure. And wow, seems like way more interest now. Surprised that UCLA is in there.

Only school I've seen mentioned for Natalie Romeo is UW (which she will be visiting).

Heck..with Nike money ..you can get them anywhere across the state and out of state. Look at Calstars current roster..how many are actually in the bay area?

They didn't do well on the circuit tour round 1 stop Boo (Norcal tourneys doing great) . I had a feeling losing 4 starters to graduation would impact. New girls/starters first year with Stars going to need time to gel, build chemistry and be confident in competing on the "big stage" (EYBL tournament stops). By the way, Decosta didn't play in all five games due to injury (don't know the severity)It's early, hope they finish strong and make the cut to Nationals where everyone gets a fresh start in the hunt for the national championship.
