I do like DeCosta's frequent interaction with the Cal players on Twitter (something I don't see with Ionescu, vs. her interaction with Oregon folks).

I figured theoretically that if Sabrina chose Oregon, Westbrook would follow, in part because I read once she might prefer the West Coast. However, lately it seems she's pretty wide open and basically all but UConn are involved.

Side note, Charisma Osborne was CalHi FOY (c/o '19) with Haley Jones being said to have been unofficial runner-up in an overall close race. CalHi generally picks FOY based on performance, not a prospect's college potential, so doesn't necessarily mean their selection will be the best prospect in the class (in fact, Fatuesi won this award over Canada, et al. from the c/o 2014). But in Osborne's case it does sound like she not only had a big season but also is an elite recruit (and it appears LG showed interest way early here).

Question regarding twitter- Can anyone tweet (?) with recruits or is that not allowed? Can coach GL or our Bears tweet with them ie w/ SI? Whenever I look on SI's twitter- I don't see any from Cal. Is it because they aren't allowed or they don't do it because the aren't interested or care ?

You mean two separate things? !. if your Mallory McGwire or Kat Tudor or if your a teen boy that knows her by first name and you comment on her dress by corresponding back to her because you met one another and have connections. 2. Or your a 50 yr old unknown Joe fan and you tweet her to come to your school or ask her questions about recruiting?

I would not do it because i dont fit category 1.

mini-Graves is a practice player for the Oregon WBB team, and he is thirsty.

Hey, in 2 decades if I'm still loitering around these no-good message boards (which in all likelihood will indeed be the case), then I would gladly be that 50yr old!—IF i thought it would help the cause, but in reality it would probably seem creepy and more likely deter a recruit a bit

What does it make me if I'm 45 years old and loitering around *other* schools' no-good message boards?!

...and over here, what about 49 years old?! I'm BBN (UK) for life (Cal mens team 2nd favorite) so I'm on their message board all the time along with several women "of a certain age" Lol

Reading about all he latest awards that SI has won it is becoming increasingly depressing since I doubt SI will be coming to Cal. All the worse since she is from here. ( I wonder if Arizona fans felt as bad about Kristine choosing CAL over one of their AZ schools?)

It hurts to lose out on a hometown blue-chipper-- it hurt for my Bruins lose out on KLS, for example. But then the world continues to spin.

Arizona also missed out on two of Chelsey's GBL teammates, Ozahria Fisher and Najiyyah Pack, both of whom hail from Phoenix, AZ. New Mexico State scooped both of 'em right on up.
They're two of the top players in the state (if not the country)

I spoke to Fisher's mom a couple of weeks ago at the Adidas tourney in AZ, and she say's that Arizona "showed interest" but slept on offering "O".
Interest = Offer?

Chelsey BTW is scheduled for an official visit to NMS in Sept. One of several...

Gosh, Pat, your attitude is so--sensible. At this point, I'm sick of hearing/reading S.I.'s name--especially in a thread that was supposed to be about Anigwe's being named national FOY--and the only reason I want her to come to Cal is that if she doesn't, we'll be inundated with if-only-Sabrina-had-chosen-Cal posts for the next decade. She's a gifted athlete, people, not a bloody savior.

Anyway, if the girl isn't smart enough to want a Cal degree, then she's a twit. A talented twit, but a twit. (Yeah, yeah--joke. Goddess help I should diss St. Sabrina.)

What will that make Coach Sopak and the rest of her Cal Stars friends in your book?

As some of us have posted the (unlikely)possibility of hiring Coach Sopak as an assistant coach as an enticement to get SC to come to Cal-question regarding a head coach's staff- do Head Coach's only have a limited number of positions available and budget for their staff or can they just add more staff? With Cal's Men's BB- obviously they have space to replace Hufnagel. But for LB to hire Sopak- would she have to fire one of her current assistant coaches? And do Head Coaches usually always keep their original staff unless one of them gets offered a position elsewhere? And would Sopak even be interested in leaving his current position to go to Cal? (as opposed to Oregon)

If we were Oregon Sopak would be hired to replace Hufnagel. Except Hufnagel wouldn't have been fired.

Except Sopak is a Nike guy through and through and does not wear Armour-All gear from every photo I have seen, LOL! Btw, Is he looking now? I wonder once his daughter goes through the system if he will move on?

Have assistant coaches ever been hired straight out of coaching at high school level?

Absolutely. Kelsey Mitchell wound up at Ohio State with her dad (who also helped the Buckeyes land a stud lineman) and her twin sister (who's not nearly the player Kelsey is).

And that's just the most recent example ...

Well, Evina Westbrook is out per her twitter. Her list is down to 9 schools with Washington, USC and Oregon St. as Pac-12 teams on that list. probably down to C, E and definitely F

Pretty surprised Westbrook eliminated Oregon! Obviously Oregon State deserves a look, but they loaded up on guards more so than the Ducks last year, and I thought I saw some hints that they (Oregon State) were leading for HG #55 Bendu Yeaney a PG from Oregon, who could be a sleeper.

Perhaps it is an indication that SI is leaning towards the Beavers :headbang!

Don't really know, but the Oregon school newspaper sports reporter just reported this tonight on a tweet and so did prospect nation. Maybe an overseas recruit could work great here?

Not surprising as Oregon PG Maite Cazorla (2015) is also from Spain. Good for us if Oregon signs more guards before Sabrina commits.

The recruit from Spain is for the Class of 2017. I would agree with you if she was trying to fit into the six player class of 2016...

I think OSU may be comfort zone (if indeed she picks them), rejoining with her former CalStars players? Rooting for the Bears tho!
