Stanford has lost almost many as Cal to transfer.
Almost as many? How do you figure that? Let me think, in 2001 or 2002 Becky Bonner transferred out after I think her soph year. Then no transfers out at all until Michelle Harrison transferred to Utah in 2010, I think. She was a grad transfer though and left on excellent terms. Then last year Rooks transferred to Harvard after her freshman year. Never played much in her one year. Lahkian was a walk-on who played her freshman season and got a scholarship for that year because one was available. She left the team for her soph and junior years. Asked to play her senior year as a walk-on and did, though did not play much. She was not really a P-12 level player, but she loved basketball and was great to root for. She could not have played for Stanford next year. All full up and when that happens they don't take walk-ons generally. It's always possible someone else could leave, but still compared to most Stanford has had very few transfers. Transfers are sorta a fact of life in WCBB these days. What someone considers excessive or problematic is in how you look at it.
