From what's been written about Reshanda Gray, she'll bring energy and enthusiasm to Cal's front court play. She will be a powerful force on offense and defense. I look for an accelerated development of her skills and hoops sense with the coaching she'll receive at Berkeley. It's really fun to think about a Bears' post rotation of Caldwell, Gray, Hartman and Brandon, who'll be coming-off a blueshirt year due to stress fractures. This is an unbelievably talented aggregation. For good measure, the Bears are adding Erika Johnson, who, at 6'1", is a strong rebounder and inside scorer and defender to play Wing.

Reshanda can be as good as she wants to . She's still just scratching the surface of her abilities. Watching her play is fun for what she is able to do, but exciting for the glimpses of what she can become.

This whole freshman class is crazy good. This team has amazing talent throughout the roster. And they are ALL freshmen, sophs and juniors!

Now, it's all about coaching and hard work. But the sky is the limit with this team.

Staying focused on the post rotation for a moment more, the pairing of Gray and Hartman on the front line is an exciting prospect. Gray's power and explosiveness compared with Hartman's skill and finese is one of the more interesting examples of the versatility and talent the freshmen bring to a Cal team already composed of young talent. I agree with GOCAL73, it's a real challenge for Gottlieb and her staff to manage the development of individual skills, build team cohesiveness and effectiveness on the court, as well as to manage the minutes and expectations of this collection of thoroughbreds in the Cal WBB stable. The prospects are truely exciting to contemplate.

Though I'm not sure Gray is quite the athlete she is, I think Rebekkah Brunson (Minnesota Lynx/Georgetown) is a good comparison for the type of player she has the potential to become. A relentless rebounder who can also chip in on offense with a blue collar approach to scoring.

But then again, potential only means so much. Heck, let's not forget Gen Brandon, even more explosive and athletic than Gray, who has the potential to be the #2 draft pick behind Chiney in 2014, IMHO.
