Congratulations to Bay Area school DVC for winning the state championship today!

Last week I saw one of the early-round games at DVC. Fun game, decided in the last minute. In case anyone is curious, I don't think any of the players I saw would be able to help our team. By Pac-12 standards they are smaller, less athletic, and don't shoot as well. That said the opponent, Sacramento City, had a 6'0" guard who made more than a few excellent passes and pulled down a lot of rebounds.

When was the last time the Cal women had a JC transfer on the roster?

I believe DVC beat Moorpark College (Ventura County) in the state final.

It's hard for me to believe you don't think not 1 player from DVC's Big 8 Conference and State Championship could help Cal or is Pac-12 worthy. As a team, DVC clocked 86.5 ppg, 11 3pg, 17.2 apg, and 16.1 spg.
Big 8 Conference POY and State Championship MVP Zahria Hendrix is a BEAST. She averaged 16.7 ppg, 9 rpg, 4 apg, and 34.9% from beyond the arc.
Jahnay Anderson (Mitty) averaged 16.8 ppg, and shot and made more 3's, 163-402 (40%), than any college player in the country. She made 16-21 3's in a game this season, which I believe broke the previous college record of 15.
Sierra Smith is still a killer ball handler, floor general (leader) who facilitates, controls the temple, lock down defender, who makes big plays down the stretch (clutch) to help secure wins. The big difference between her game now and when she played for the Open Division State Champs St. Mary's of Stockton, is she is taking more shots, averaged 11.5 ppg.
One thing you can't teach is heart and hustle/grit (resiliency). Either you possess these qualities or you don't. Cal could definitely use some of the heart and hustle/grit that DVC played with all season.

Probably doesn't matter what another poster believes. Do they have players getting recruited/signed or not? This isn't a subjective point of discussion in the end.

I agree with you. Opinions are subjective, but #'s don't lie, so thought it was only fair to post the #'s.
And yes, they do have players being recruited.

I meant no disrespect to DVC or to the players, I'm thrilled they won the title. From what I saw I'd say they are a well-balanced, well-coached team.

The competition was not always good. In their 5 playoff games DVC averaged 66.4 ppg shooting .355 overall and .326 on threes. And that includes one 84-42 mismatch blowout where the opponents had 42 turnovers!

You're right. She's 5-8 with inside and outside skills. I don't think she could help Cal because we have 3 freshie guards coming in and I think 5-8 is too small for a Pac-12 forward. But she should be playing D-1 ball somewhere next season.

Jahnay is only 5-4 and has a low release, though it's quick. Dunno how her game would translate to D-1.

She's also a freshie, might be much better next season.

Along with Hendrix PG Daisha Abdelkader made 1st team All-NorCal and F Lelani Moncrease made 3rd team All-NorCal. Daisha is tiny, smaller than Asha, with boundless energy but inconsistent shooting. Lelani is a 6-0 post, solid inside but I didn't see any outside skills.

That they have.
