Also, Sadler the guard from Cal Stars whom we offered picked Washington

The Cal Sparks post did narrow down to 4 including Cal, plus Arizona and maybe Duke and USC but I'm hazy.

One down; now two or three to go?

pscf--I belleve that Cal had the best shot at McFarland! Maybe that's how I read the posts here but that was definitely the impression that I came away with...Does anyone know whether Charmin received a verbal commit the other day when the "BOOM" twitter link was posted here? It would take the pressure off of not landing a significant post player for the class of 2020. GO BEARS!

I think some of you are forgetting that we likely have an international recruit or two already in the pipeline. Look at how many have been here already, at least five the past few years. Here's my incomplete (wish) list of who I believe Charmin and co. Are after:

Amirah Abdur Rahim 6'2" Ga (legacy recruit)
Heavonly Greer 6'3" AZ F.
Fatou Samb TX 6'4" TX Verbal commit.
Jordan Jenkins 6'2" WA Silent commit?
Alexis Whitfield 6'1" F CA committed to UW
Amaya Oliver 6'2" W CA (St. Mary's, Stockton)
Vanessa DeJesus 5'9" CA Sierra Canyon
Dalayah Daniels 6'3" P WA
Unknown Int Recruit
Unknown Int Recruit

Some are just wishes by me..I have no idea if even one of the above listed will committ to Cal, but wasn't our coach the main factor behind all of those loaded classes we had when she was assistant?
Note: Coach Smith is so beloved by furd WBB fans- they are rooting for us to have a great recruiting class, become competitive again, then poach Coach Smith as Tara's replacement after our 2nd Final Four run.

Whitfield recently committed to UW. Don't forget Dalayah Daniels, the highest ranked among our remaining targets.

I was wondering about Heavonly Greer 6'3" AZ F.

Don't get the impression she's the next Anigwe out of AZ but seems top 70 caliber.

WBB: Shayley Harris (6-6 SO forward/center, Redding, CA) recently announced that she's transferring from UCLA to Santa Clara (WCC). Her sister, Katie Harris, is a 2020 Santa Clara commit.

I know she chose UCLA over Cal. Wish she would have chosen Cal to begin with
ClayK
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Shayley Harris made the right call by going to the WCC, from what I saw of her. She's tall and reasonably skilled, but is not a difference-maker in the Pac-12, or really, even a starter.

So many kids go for the glamor or P5 school when everything would work out so much better at a mid-major (at least basketball-wise)/
3Cats4CAL
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes but between Shayley and Chen who do you think would contribute more game-wise?
ClayK
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Interesting question, but I think Harris without a doubt. Chen is simply not a basketball player and I don't think she would have done much in the WCC either.
annarborbear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Looking at the roster, it looks like we are going to have to give Chen some minutes this year. There simply isn't any alternative after CJ to play against tall centers in the league. Which is probably a big reason why we are picked for 11th place.

If Chen has to be on the court, I still think she should be coached to keep her hands up at all times. She can acquire a few rebounds just by being tall and bother a few shots while she is out there.

Anya is off to my alma mater, UCSB. (I have a degree from Cal too ...)

How many players will Charmin bring in? Other posters say we have six spots open.

Hoopgurlz says DeJesus committed to Duke.

Texas is where she is from.

Westside HS in Houston, TX, to be exact.

GoBears635-take another look: Fatou Samb TX 6'4" TX Verbal commit. Texas is repeated twice.

I still don't see why the state is listed twice but I'll believe you. I'll hope JJ WA is a "silent"!

True, but it's the first TX that is extraneous, not the second. All the other players are listed as Name, Height, Position, State. It's the TX that lists her state that has you confused.

Jenkins to USC per @Raoul on twitter

The silent commit almost has to be Ugonne Onyiah. Dalayah Daniels is currently at Oregon State.

Samb and Onyiah would be a stellar post-centric class to complement our 3 guard 2019 class. Definitely makes us competitive come next year.

Ugone Onyiah 6'2" F CA ***** Cal Commit!

Fatou Samb TX 6'4" P ***** Cal commit!

Naje Murray 5'9" PG CA *** (SDS Transfer)
Dalayah Daniels 6'3" P WA. ***** Cal commit!!
Ornela Muca Albania/Greek Nat. Team Cal Committ!!!

*****Top ten recruiting class?****

How many players will Charmin bring in? So far 5: 3 HS committed, one transfer (Murray), one expected int. Recruit.
Ashfield63
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Naje Murray, St. Marys Stockton, transferred from San Diego State to CAL last April. She is a true point guard who steals the ball, and makes many 3-pointers. She has to sit out this year, but will play as a Junior during the 2020-2021 season. This player will be exciting to watch. GO BEARS!!!

It's amazing how USC's women's team continually attracts high quality recruits and high caliber transfers over Cal. I can see Oregon State being attractive because of the success that they've demonstrated over the last decade or so.

bearwbbfan
How long do you want to ignore this user?
My bad,

Daniels is NOT committed to Oregon State, just currently there for a visit. I'm guessing if she visited there, she is not the other commit, and Onyiah is, unless there is an international player.

Trakh's coaching record has certainly not been that great, But the SC glamour factor is always there for someone who knows how to exploit it.
wbbilluminati
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Trakh hasn't missed a beat with recruiting. His coaching record was more or less just average but his two best signees Gemelos and Stef Gilbreath both suffered multiple ACL injuries and often mentioned when assessing his records. Gemelos was by some the #1 recruit for 2006 and Stef Gilbreath was around #7.

Wonder if Greer or Daniels are still in the picture? If Van Lith comes aboard, this is truly a monster class. My apologies for using the term of a former poster who left the board in disgrace.

Well, there hasn't been any actual report/link between Greer and Cal. And also no link has been made between Van Lith and Cal, and her recruiting has been a lot more scrutinized/publicized, so if there was a link with Cal and HVL we'd have likely heard about it! I believe Van Lith is down to Louisville, Baylor, Oregon, Oregon State, and UCLA.

Though Greer is ranked pretty high by a couple of services, I'm not so sure she has the caliber of offers that our two verbals Michelle and Fatou had.
ClayK
How long do you want to ignore this user?
For me, rankings take a distant back seat to offers. If the offer list includes top ten teams and other Power 5s, then the player is probably a difference-maker. (And offers are different than visits or coaches saying nice things.)

If the offer list is heavy on mid-majors, then we're looking at a good player, but not a certain Pac-12 starter.

wbbilluminati, shouldn't you change your thread head to something like "Yes, success (recruiting)"?
