Are both Mirkovic and Smoot available this fall?

Mirkovic stated on social media that she will be back this fall and use her extra "COVID year" (as a grad student). Haven't heard anything about Smoot though

That's a pretty bold statement. While Cal volleyball hasn't always been as successful as we might wish, there have been some pretty great individual players.

2013-now.

While we had many good players before her, some who went pro, she is IMO the most irreplaceable player on the team right now. Look no further than the six-game losing streak in 2019 when she missed four games due to an ankle injury suffered against UCLA. As she was one of the top scorers for Cal, the rest of the team fell flat when she went down and Cal missed NCAAs for a 6th straight year. And this past season, which she opted out of to play beach, furthered the indoor team's misery after Forte and Anderson transferred, and their inexperience without Mirkovic did not help them as they were only able to win one match and consequently missed NCAAs for a 7th straight year

Oh, ok. I have no quibble with your statement given that timeframe.

Hope we can get more players at that calibre and above going forward.

Pantovic showed flashes of brilliance, but it's hard to know how good she'll get right now. Grote on the other hand is very likely to become a star middle for Cal like Anderson and Forte before her. Will Lilomaiava surpass her predecessor Huizenga's numbers? Who knows
