All players in the top 50. Not too shabby!

11 Tianna Bell, 3B/SS, Lady Magic Munoz (Cal-Berkeley)

Tianna walks into the batter's box with commanding presence and brings to the plate a violent swing that can smash balls with scary power. She is, according to Coach Lindsey Munoz, "the hitter that every pitcher is scared to throw to." Tianna is the Lady Magic's anchor in the 4-spot and has the numbers to show she is so feared: a .412 batting average this Summer with 10 home runs, eight doubles and 39 RBIs in 136 at-bats. Her home runs can be jaw-dropping with some clearing the outfield fence by 20-plus feet. Defensively, Tianna's cat-quick reactions at third base make her a hard target to hit through. "We think she can be a big impact player with Chelsea Spencer and the Cal Bears," says Coach Munoz.

21 D'Auna Johnson, SS/UT, Lady Magic Munoz (Cal-Berkeley)

D'Auna was added to the Lady Magic roster this fall and Coach Lindsey Munoz says, "She has certainly made an offensive impact!" The senior got off to a strong start with her new ballclub by hitting .500 in her first 30-at bats with six home runs. That piggy-backed off a successful Summer and a high school Spring campaign with Sacramento powerhouse, Sheldon High. With the Huskies, D'Auna batted .525 with nine home runs and 39 RBIs. Adds Coach Munoz: "We are very excited to have D'Auna with us for her Senior season and think that she will help elevate our offensive power numbers to national bests."

31 Elon Butler, SS, Corona Angels Tyson (Cal-Berkeley)

Elon is the starting third baseman for Marty Tyson's powerful Angels 18U team and bats in the 5-hole against top teams in the club space. She's "athletic with pure power our our team which took third in the country," Coach Tyson explained. Elon has been one of the top prospects in her class going back to her pre-high school days. She comes from an athletic family as her mother played college basketball and three others in her family competed in college football. Elon hits for power to all fields and in the dirt has a quick first step and good lateral movement. For her Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, California) High team this year she went 32-for-64 to bat .500 and had eight home runs, seven doubles and knocked in 24 runs in 21 games. Elon had a .558 on-base percentage, a 1.046 slugging mark and a 1.605 OPS. The standout athlete had heavy interest from SEC, Big Ten and other Pac-12 programs before she committed to the Bears before the Early Recruiting Rules took place.

49 Ashanti McDade, P, Oklahoma Angels Yeatts (Cal-Berkeley)

Ashanti is one of the top power pitchers in the senior class with the ability to throw in the upper 60's and has hit 70 mph on several occasions. The right-hander had an outstanding performance at PGF in 2019 leading her team to a Top 5 finish. She has game-changing power at the plate as well including a 290-foot blast this fall during the high school season in which she hit .509 with nine home runs and 25 RBI's in 15 games. In the circle she had 120 strikeouts in 60 innings with an 11-1 record. At the 2021 Colorado Sparkler Power Pool she went 2-0 striking out 21 in 14 innings. At the 2021 PGF National Championships, Ashanti pitched 18 innings while allowing just one earned run and striking out 18.

2023 Rankings

19Randi Roelling, P, Batbusters Gomes/Brooks

Randi is a sophomore at Central Catholic (Modesto, California) High and plays for Dennis Gomes' 18U team as a power left-handed pitcher, first-baseman and-hitter. Coach Gomes says, "Randi is one of the strongest players that has ever played for me. She is always asking for the ball to be in the pitcher's circle." The sophomore is an aggressive lefty pitcher who controls the game with her five pitches and adds Coach Gomes: "She has been very hard on hitters since she came to our team in the Fall of 2020." As a hitter, Randi is also hitting with lots of power with her bat and can drive the ball to from line to line with her strong swing. For the Batbusters, Randi has hit .475 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs this year and in the circle she is throwing in the mid-60's with her variety of pitches including throwing a changeup in the mid 30's while compiling a 11-2 record with 123 K's in 89 innings. "Randi is a one-of-a-kind player," adds Coach Gomes, "and I see her stepping into any D-1 program as a freshman and dominating as a pitcher and hitter."

25Nailyn Marshall, MIF, LTG Henderson/Lively

Nailyn has a cannon for an arm with great range as she plays the middle infielder. Co-Head Coach Jake Lively says, "Her ability to turn double plays is off the charts and is largely a result of her transfer times and arm strength." Nailyn's bat is equally impressive and she can go on stretches where she produces impressive power displays. In one recent weekend tournament for LTG, she hit three home runs, batted .457 and compiled a slugging percentage of .733. Adds her coach, "Big things are in store for Nailyn and we expect she will be an early verbal come September."

Yep! The recruiting seems to have really taken off as of late. Not all that surprising for anyone that's ever met Coach Spencer.

Cal lands another 2023, Catcher Isabel (Lagi) Quiroga from Southern California. She hit .586 in a shortened Fr season. Appears she transferred and hit.... .586 this last season. Now that's consistency!

Don't know much about her. I was holding out that a very talented 2023 commit from local Acalanes would end up at Cal but she apparently has committed to Rutgers. Strange to me given that she is definitely Pac 12 material. Not sure of any other uncommitted local 2023 talent. Go Bears!

Hey why is Olivia Silvestri not on here? Anyway I was re-watching the PGF championship and found this piece of nugget at 5:48, 17:45, 19:14, 43:36 marks. Looks like she is a lefty hitter out of So Cal Athletics, Richardson. She was a leadoff batter which means she gets on base and is fast.

I'm confused. She is a 1B and an outfielder? Odd combo.
Edit: She is 5'7". A little short for 1B and a little tall for OF. Interesting. She must be a good hitter.

Good info here. She batted like .450 but I wonder if that is high school or travelball. Big difference.

Ok that makes a lot more sense. She must have grown as all the research I've done on her showed 5'7". Still very tall for an outfielder though.

Off topic: I see that she plays for the Sorcerer. That's a good organization. There was a girl name Mia Negrette who lives in So Cal but plays for Sorcerer 14U Gold (No Cal Org). She hit 7 home runs this weekend. Wow, I have not umped a tourney where a girl hit 7 home runs in one weekend.

Cal's 2023 pitcher is going to be the next Henderson/Arioto type in the circle. Just dominate. 18k's in her opener losing a tough 1-0 battle. She averaged 17 out of 21 outs as k's last year!

Ashanti McDade, Denton

You won't find a player who can do more than Ashanti McDade can for the Broncos. As one of the best hurlers in Texas, the Cal recruit racked up an impressive 210 strikeouts with a 2.00 ERA a season ago, and that was just in the circle.
At the plate, the 2021 Denton Record-Chronicle Utility Player of the Year hit .576 with 1.017 OBP, plus five home runs and 15 stolen bases.
McDade is off to a nice start in 2022, fanning 22 batters in Denton's District 6-5A opener against Lake Dallas last week.
