QUICK HITS

At 7-3 overall, Cal is off to its best start through 10 games in the Mike Neu era. It is also off to its fifth-best start since 1999. Cal has started 8-2 three times during that same stretch and 8-1-1 once.
Last time out the Bears fell to Mississippi State 8-4 in the finale of the Frisco Classic. Cal went 1-2 in that tournament, losing to Oklahoma in the opener on Friday, coming back to defeat Ohio State 16-1 in seven innings on Saturday before losing to the Bulldogs, who scored four runs late to pull away from the Bears.
All-Tournament Duo: Sophomores Rodney Green Jr. and Peyton Schulze were named to the Frisco Classic All-Tournament team for their stellar weekend. Green Jr. hit .333 with five runs scored and four hits, including two mammoth solo home runs. Schulze hit .308 with eight RBI, including a grand slam in the win over Ohio State.
National Numbers: The Bears rank in the top 20 in the nation in double plays with 11 turned this season. They are also 13th in the nation in double plays per game, averaging 1.10 per contest. Both those numbers rank second in the Pac-12.
