Women's NCAA meet kicked off today and both relays received All-American nods.

200 Medley Relay - Stadden (23.58), Neser (26.33), Kragh (23.12) and Akakabota (21.52) combine for 4th place in 1:34.55.

800 Free Relay - Motekaitis (1:44.16), Klinker (1:44.03), Chavez (1:44.50) and Polonsky (1:42.49) combine for 9th place in 6:55.18, a season best.

Team looks really solid this morning!

500 free - Klinker (13th, 4:38.07) and Motekaitis (15th, 4:38.56) earn B-final swims tonight. Both are just off season/career bests in the 4:37s. Hazle finishes 38th in 4:43.40, just off her Pac-12 PB of 4:42.97.

200 IM - Polonsky returns to the B-final for the 3rd straight year in a 1:54.34 for 11th.

50 free - Sprinters really showed up. Eloise Riley (16th, 21.93) earns her first individual night swim, breaking 22 for the first time.
Akakabota (22nd, 22.04) right on her best time from Pac-12s; Stone was 30th with a 22.10, dropping from her last chance swim that earned her an invite; Brophy 36th with a 22.17 (0.3 drop from Pac-12s); Stadden 22.23 for 40th (drops time from midseason)

Was hoping Rachel would get into the A group. She was one of the few Bears picked to make the A group. Think she has had a long season..first swimming international for USA and then quickly jumping to the Pac 'ship.

Izzy Ivey is tearing up the competition for Florida as a Grad Transfer. The Gators won the freestyle relay and are sitting in 1st place overall.

200IM Polonsky came in 15th

With diving & 200fr relay Cal in 9th place. Hopefully Cal does well in the relay but only seeded 12th.

200 FR - 1:26.88 but DQ'd due to early start from Brophy. Would have been 10th.

Splits: Riley 22.0, Akakabota 21.7, Brophy 21.6, Stone 21.4

Team standings- currently in 12th, but with relay points would have been 11th.

Loss of 6 pts. Every points matter. Hopefully no more hiccups. Considering Stadden being the only A level swimmer Cal so far swimming to their abilities

400 IM: Polonsky holds seed and is 10th (4:05.11) heading into finals. Hazle with the dreaded 17th, 4:08.26

100 fly: Kragh sneaks into top 8 (51.07). Brophy (21st, 51.49) and Cook (31st, 51.93) swim lifetime bests, with Klinker (32nd, 51.94) and Stone (41st, 52.30) round out our fly group. Worth noting that's Klinker's fastest 100 fly time since 2021.

Good results the last 2 nights.

Kragh finishes 8th in the 100 fly (51.27) while Stadden finishes 2nd in the 100 back (50.47) and 4th in the 200 back (1:49.11). Klinker takes 3rd in the 200 fly (1:51.62).

400 medley relay finishes in 8th with Stadden (50.75), Henry (58.61), Kragh (51.53) and Riley (48.02) at 3:28.91, and the 400 free relay finishes 11th with Riley (48.02), Brophy (48.20), Stadden (47.54) and Polonsky (47.85) in 3:11.66.

Bears finish 11th in the team standings. Really proud of this group and their accomplishments this season! Onto the summer season and Olympic Trials in Indy.

Men's NCAA started.

Cal came in 4th for the 4x50 medley relay. Liam Bell splits 22.25 secs for the breaststroke leg, which might be the fastest ever in the NCAA. I don't recall anyone going faster than that.

1:21.01 might be a new school record --

California 1:21.67 1:21.01P 30
1) Seeliger, Bjorn SR 2) r:0.10 Bell, Liam 5Y
3) r:0.18 Rose, Dare SR 4) r:0.33 Alexy, Jack JR
r:+0.66 9.97 20.39 (20.39)
30.11 (9.72) 42.64 (22.25)
51.54 (8.90) 1:02.61 (19.97)
1:11.28 (8.67) 1:21.01 (18.40)

Top 10 list has the current record at 1:21.24 (20.29 from Seeliger, 22.99 from Bell, 19.85 from Rose, and 18.11 from Alexy).

I just looked at the spec sheets (or whatever they're called). Barring some kind of catastrophe, I don't see how anybody beats ASU. Regardless, I'll root hard for the Bears.

Dare's fly leg pretty mediocre though no way they would had beaten Florida.
swimmer19

The same could be said about Alexy's anchor leg, 3/10s slower than last year. Unfortunately Rose is about as good as it gets in terms of our fly options.

Off topic, but good to see coaches taking Saleem and Rivers to the meet even though they are on the alternate list. Nice opportunity for them to get the meet experience and hope to have them qualify next year.

True on Alexy's leg. He should had caught NC state. Maybe saving himself for the 800R.

Bears head into tonight with all of the usual suspects picking up A final swims:

500 free: 1/2 ASU, 1/0 Cal (Jett seeded fourth behind Georgia's Magahey, Marchand, and UT's Hobson)
200 IM: 3/0 ASU, 1/0 Cal (Lasco top seed by over a second)
50 free: 2/1 ASU, 2/0 Cal (Alexy and Seeliger seeded third and fifth)

Alexy knocks off 0.3 for a big PB. Bell (B-finalist last year) unfortunately tied with a few other folks for 19th, right out of the B-final/alternate positions.

Josh Thai places 21st in the 1m springboard diving prelims today. Well done!
Geoffrey Vavitsas will make his NCAA debut tomorrow, joining Thai on the 3m event. They will also compete in platform on Saturday, where they are both expected to score.

Destin sets american record to win the 200IM 1:37.91A

Jett takes 4th in the 500.

Alexy 3rd in 50 18.38 and Seeliger 18.54

Cal in 2nd plc with 135pts to 169 ASU. Both Cal & ASU have no divers making the final, so it will be 200Fr to close off their competition.

Cal finished second in the 200m freestyle relay with ASU third. It appears that the Bears are in a battle for the runner-up spot this year with Florida and maybe others. Tomorrow (Friday), ASU will really pull away in the first couple of events. Leon Marchand is incredible and will win the 400 IM and I doubt Cal will score in that event. I hope that I am wrong but the Bears don't have the depth that they had last season, for example. GO BEARS!

Hope Cal finishes at least 2nd this year. That would mean either a national championship or runner-up for Durden every year since 2011.
