So he ended up reaching out to Bob Bowman, the ASU coach and former coach/mentor of Michael Phelps, although he didn't swim for ASU or any U.S. college, and the rest is history. If he went to Cal he would have been the greatest Cal male swimmer ever after just one Olympics, above even the great Matt Biondi.
