After first rotation, Cal leads 49.350 to 49.050.
Cal was on Bars. Annalise Newman-Achee had her debut, but had the low score 9.825. Lauzon with the only 9.9 (9.925) for the first two rotations.

But, on vault, Mayhew's timing was off and she fell. Need to drop her score. Can't afford any low scores, but Cesario is only 9.725. Lauzon gets 9.875. Casey Brown subs in as anchor over Wiley. Brown gets 9.8. Total is 49.075 so still higher than NCState's vault score.

NCState gets 49.175 on Bars, so Cal leads after two rotations - 98.425 - 98.225 - so lead is less.

On to Floor/Beam. Bears need to start hitting more 9.9 scores - if not for this meet, for the rankings.

I'm recording it on dvr because the women's basketball game is data streamed online at 2pm.

Consider the thread as a spoiler!
Last week, Cal had its high floor score of 49.475.
Mayhew recovers from vault to have a floor score of 9.825 - with most of the deduction for a small step back - perhaps caused by a "new floor" per the commentator.
Williams follows with a 9.9.

Cesario with a 9.875 (after a judges conference for some unknown reason).
Frazier with only a 9.850.
Lauzon and Taurek to come.

NCState is not getting high scores on beam - with two 9.8 as the current high scores.
But, no lead for anyone is safe when you are headed to beam, which is where Cal will finish.

Lauzon comes through with a 9.95. Taurek makes her college debut, but almost has a fall. She gets only a 9.350 which is dropped. Cal gets a 49.400, so not as good last week but still second highest season score.

NCState has 49.075 from beam with a 9.9 anchor from the reigning ACC Beam champion.

Cal leads after three rotations - 147.825 to 147.300.

Cal had a not great beam score last week of 48.875 so there is redemption available.
Last week, NCState went 49.325 on floor where they go now.

Cesario starts Beam with an 9.825 (slightly less than season average).
Williams may have missed a connection - and judges say she did and she gets only a 9.775.

Not a good start on beam.

Mayhew comes up with a 9.825 - above her season average - and putting Cal in better position to drop Williams' score.
Frazier with a slight wobble - but a 9.850 - right on season average - and highest score of this rotation so far.
Lauzon and Abby Scanlon to come.

Lauzon with a 9.9 and wins the All Around
Scanlon with her college debut as a senior - and it looked sweet and it's a 9.950! And she wins the event. What a debut.
So, Cal ends with a 49.350 which it has reached twice before.

Team score 197.175 which is a welcome recover from consecutive weeks under 197. But, there is so much room to get better and has to get better for post-season.
Cal might sneak up to 7th from 8th as they enter with a season average of 196.856.

Cal takes meet 197.175 to 196.550.

Pretty good with three collegiate debuts - but Scanlon's beam is the highlight!

There was an article on Utah and how scores are lower throughout the NCAA due to a scoring change which someone else could probably explain.

One day better, one meet better. Definitely room for improvement. Below is a tweet that captures the Abbey Scanlon routine and moment very well.

My only complaints about a good ACC Network coverage was that they didn't talk about Mya's 9.95 floor!

This is what Cal gymnastics means to the ACC. Runner-up to the National Champ and top 7 team draws people out.

Let's pack Haas for this squad! Friday night meet against Furd!

Abbey Scanlon was already a great Bear before her terrific moment last week. A real deep dive podcast episode from this fall on her story, her challenges and what she has been doing as a student athlete leader at Cal.
