Archbishop Mitty vs Willow Glen | Softball | 5/24

In a pitcher's duel between two juniors, Willow Glen prevailed over Archbishop Mitty on a solo HR, 1-0. Cal commit, Alanna Clincy, struck out 10 and pitched a complete game shutout. She gave up 5 hits and walked two.
She also doubled and walked at the plate.

The Rams are now 27-0 on the season and advance in the CCS softball playoffs.

What a season. I'm still bullish for Cal's program given our new stadium and De Nava, McGowan, and Clincy being our 3 arms. Hopefully we can hold on to everyone in this wild wild west of college sports transferring.

I see that Willow Glen won their next playoff game today, against Capuchino, 5-1 in the open division playoffs (semifinals, I think?). No stats posted for Willow Glen yet, so can't tell how Clincy did, other than giving up no more than 1 run and 3 hits, assuming she was the pitcher.

Looks like she tossed a 3 hitter with 10k's... and the 1 run was unearned.

0.29 ERA on the season. Video game numbers!

WG will meet the winner of today's Saint Francis - Salinas semi-final. It's likely to be the Lancers and the CCS Championship will be played on Saturday. These two teams have not met this season.

Saint Francis (27-3) defeated Salinas, 6-1, and will face Willow Glen on 5/31 for the CCS crown.

The game will be data-streamed on NFHS Network! I watch all of the Mitty basketball games here, but they have raised the subscription cost to $13.99 (from 11.99) per month. I looked for the AM vs WG a week ago and it was not covered. This will be the first softball game that I will have watched on NFHS. They cover most high school sports across the country. On my credit card, this phone number, 877-978-2311, appears. I believe that the service is located in the state of Georgia. (see above)

Saint Francis, ranked #4 in the state of CA, pulled away from Willow Glen in extra innings to capture the CCS title, 9-6 (8). I watched the initial couple of innings and the final pair. Alanna Clincy had a good day hitting with a two-run HR. She went 2 for 4 + a walk. The Lancers possess bigtime hitting with their top five hitters batting in excess of a .400 BA%.

In the top of the 1st, SF got to Clincy for two runs on three hits plus a walk. Alanna answered in the bottom half with a two-run bomb (estimated at 225 feet) to left-center field off of the Saint Francis ace, Valente. I'll post the statistics if I see them.
