"Stack-Eaton had a decorated career as a gymnast for Alabama, where she led the Crimson Tide to back-to-back NCAA championships in 2011 and 2012. She collected two straight individual national titles as well winning the floor exercise championship in 2011 and a balance beam championship in 2012. The 2012 NCAA DI Gymnast of the Year earned 12 All-America selections during her four-year career, including first team honors in the all-around, vault, uneven bars, and floor exercise. Stack-Eaton was also a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and earned a bachelor's degree in telecommunications and film."

It appears that she will have connections in the Midwest and Southeast. That should help recruiting.

Good question ... not sure how the portal works for gymnastics. I know June 15th is said to be an important date for gymnastics. I"m not sure why though. I would think you might already have to be in the portal by then. I ask around if there might be some potential transfers. Ideally you want to bring another veteran who is capable of competing in a couple of events at minimum.

Oh another tidbit is she is married to Rich Stenger assistant coach also was with Minnesota. So safe to assume he will also be coming to Berkeley.

Rich was the associated head coach. I guess he can remain the assoc. HC, while wife now in charge.

A number of Gophers transferred already. Cal missed out.

Gymnasts in transfer portal for Cal to look at:

1) Kendall Landry from Minnesota (Soph) ... did not break into the lineups while at Minnesota. Does well on vault, floor and beam
2) Paige Anastasi from UCLA (Soph) Saw some action as a vault specialist. That alone might make her the top target for Cal. You can never have enough good vaulters. Seems to the top gymnast left in the portal
3) Brooke McNamara from Bowling Green (Grad) looks like has been injured a lot. Didn't compete the last couple of years. She excelled on floor as a freshman. Also was in the vault lineup. She might be akin to Jordan Kane. Injured for most of her college career but could be a floor specialist.
4) Sierra Muns from West Virginia (Grad) ... probably the transfer with the most time in the lineups left in the portal. Also a vault specialist but also compete on floor.

Did she have a red shirt year or medical shorten year? Wondering if Mya Lauren or Maddie Williams could qualify for a 5th year..if the could get into a graduate school.

Hope Paulsson (sp) sticks. The Berkeley reputation seems to carry more weight with international students.

There is plenty of talent on the current squad. We should be very competitive next season.

Lets see how the new coaching staff does recruiting-wise. Might have to attack the 2026 portal to augment the squad afterwards.

Also things could be very interesting between Cal-Clemson ...new rivalry for Women Gymnastics!?

I doubt they would be scum bags if they recruited to Cal. Maybe the players want to be with the coaches that recruited them in the first place. Maybe your the that is a SB for even mentioning that. Don't worry whatever you respond I won't. Go Bears

Yes-I'm a scumbag for being unhappy with losing our top-level coaching staff, our top five gymnasts (combination of graduation and transfers) plus four top prospects from our next two recruit classes. Am I unhappy with the way things are going? Duh. Cal's program got trashed. It's probably not over, either. I'm surprised that I held out this long without losing my cool.

You should go to the Clemson athletic department site find Coach Crandall-Howell's email and send them a message telling him exactly what you think of him for poaching from your beloved Cal bear gymnastics teams. I love Emaj she was my favorite gymnast.

Cal's program didn't get trashed. Still have three five stars and four four stars on the roster. Likely have a couple of transfers coming in.

Ccajon2-I don't put as much stock in those ratings because most of them only participated in one event or possibly two (Mayhew). The four All-Arounders are gone. Hopefully, the star from Britain, Achampong, can lead the way as an AA this year.

I don't believe that you or any of us are as sick about it as we'd like to believe. You, and we, are all still here posting like crazy, and pouring our hearts out for our Golden Bears. Frankly, I suspect that if the tables were turned and Cal somehow managed a coach hiring coup (sadly, it doesn't happen often), and coach(es) brought along a few superior recruits, we would be pretty friggin high on the come up. Of course there is greed in college sports and I hate that too. But I am not sure this is exactly that, greed. Yes it still suks, but really, it's not like some sort of a recruiting NDA was signed with Cal.

I think we just have to deal with it and hopefully somebody has a plan on how to do better going forward. Now that worries me...
