Steve Singleton was great on the podcast. He stated that the renovated stadium should be ready in January.
If I heard his words correctly, he mentioned that a freshman recruit is competing for a starting position. It also sounded as if the four new pitchers should help bring down the staff's collective ERA from 7 runs per game.

Greatly improved pitching staff, new stadium, hearing Pichardo's hitting 300 foot bombs... all music to my ears. Excited to see the new and improved team this fall. Go Bears!
FYI- Looks like we got two commits after the Clemson game (a silver lining, I guess). I'm sure information will come out on those players in the next 24-48 hours.

What an upgrade? I had the opportunity to spend time with the previous coach and knew she wasn't the right person to lead the Cal program. Coach Sing is a very impressive guy.
I believe madyson jade Quintanilla infielder from the south San Francisco is one recruit.

Have we ever had a recruit from Oklahoma? Way back in the day (i'm talking Jocelyn Forest times) we had a pitcher transfer from the University of Oklahoma.... but if I recall, she was from Nevada.
The player from South SF appears to be a heck of a flag football player too.

The highest rated recruit we're bringing in next year is from Texas. Doesn't hurt to expand the recruiting map!
Weslyn McCorvey was rated #120 in the 2028 Class of Softball America. She appears to possess speed on a double and a stolen base. I did a search.

Her Orange Lutheran High team led by Steve Miklos has won two CIF Southern Section titles and, more recently, has captured seven straight Trinity League championships; impressive as it's one of the most competitive leagues in not just the state, but the nation.
Rylee earned 1st Team All-County and All-CIF Southern Section Div. 1 honors after recording a 1.13 ERA with 111 K's in 105.2 innings and a .457 batting average. For her two-year prep career, Rylee has a .183 BAA and is strong on defense with a .975 fielding percentage. An effective and overpowering pitcher who is a three-sport athlete, she also competes in basketball and flag football.

Quite a summer of travel ball. Team finished 38-9-3 and ended the season with a first place finish in 18U Sparkler National Power Pool and T-3 in AFCS Tier 1. Marcela Attar is ranked #76 and appears to be a strong defensive shortstop. She has HR power and is adept at stealing bases. She'll be a junior this season in Norman, Oklahoma.

So glad to see a top 50 pitcher pick Cal! How about another one in the top 150.....It really is all about the pitching staff. Most coaches can find the other talent out there. Great part about softball is the talent level across the country continues to grow. Love how Coach Sing is recruiting

Does it matter? OU built their dynasty primarily with out of state (CA/TX/HI} talent, not in-staters.
I sure think so. They might've built their dynasty in large part on California talent, but the recruiting landscape has completely changed. The No. 1 player in the last class is from Oklahoma (Goose Hutchens), and you'll see that the list of ranked players is riddled with talent from Oklahoma and Texas. The club our two recruits play for is ranked as the third-best club in the country and is based in Oklahoma. Times have changed. Frankly, I think the dominance of Oklahoma has a lot to do with it,

McLennan Softball's Traci Lowry has been named the 2026 Diamond Sports/NFCA Catcher of the Year.
A freshman from Franklin, Texas, Lowry batted .507 with 16 doubles, six triples, three home runs and 38 RBI. She posted a .545 on-base percentage, slugged .784 and struck out just 11 times in 154 plate appearances. On defense, she had a .996 fielding percentage, committing just one miscue in 237 chances, and threw out five of the 15 players that attempted to steal against her.
She was also First-Team All-Conference, All-Region V, NFCA First-Team All-Region and NFCA First-Team All-American selection.
