BTW. Not to sure how much she actually got to play in Rio but afterwards the #1 setter Alisha Glass announced her retirement and will ride off into the sunset with .gulp Josh Childress. Hope Carli will stick around for Tokyo.

She gave a very sentimental speech with her voice cracking with emotion but she managed to ended it with a "Go Bears". Unfortunately the team was not able ti carry this special occassion and translate it to a win. We won game #1 but WVU swept the next 3 sets for the win. Team still struggling with receiving, passing, setting, and blocking. Positioning seem to be a problem too where dumps are very effective against us. Our outside hitting could not finish on a consistent basis with mishits or shots getting block. Doesn't get any easier with Santa Clara up next.

6 years of consistent decline. How much longer until people start seriously asking if it's time for Rich to call it a career. I'll state again, as I have in the past, that this is hard to write since I've followed Cal women's volleyball since to 2000 when Rich first started and watched him transform a joke of a program into a national power, which is why I was willing to give him the 2 years subsequent to our national runner-up run in 2010 to get things together. 6 years going now, and we're losing to teams we not only have no business losing to, but should be absolutely destroying. I'm sorry, it's time for Rich to go.
