Josh Prenot, Andrew Seliskar Bust Up World Rankings On Second Morning in Irvine

Well done Katie McL on using your trademark finishing speed to take the 200m Free B final crown with a 1:58.20 (= her 3rd fastest lifetime swim, PB = 1:57.55 from 2015) - ahead of Flickinger (UGA), Drabot & Forde (both LSJU)

Yeah Seli!! On to Tokyo!!

Seli my man - wot patience & maturity capped by that brill last wall to take the 200m Free championship title in a new PB of (now holds the 3rd & 4th fastest time in the world just from today's races)!! Go Bears!!!

Pardon, got a mite too excited and hit the enter button prematurely lol...Andrew's winning time was 1:45.70

Not to be overlooked in the euphoria of Seliskar's epic win, another Golden Bear, Trenton Julian, lowered his prev 1:48.19 PB from prelims using a nice finish to come in 3rd in the B final with a 1:47.57!

Incoming froski Reece wins the B final of the 200m Breast in 2:12.28!

Yaz, Prenot, you're Tokyo bound!!!



Easily takes the 200m Breast in a near PB 2:07.28 (fastest time in the world this year) - Josh's PB = 2:07.17, which also just happens to be the American Record

Beary satisfying night so far...

Wow, just wow! That race between Kathleen and Regan was insane! Also, very happy for Alex in winning the B final. After this morning's disaster, you can tell there was a big smile of relief on her face after the victory. If Stadden can improve on her polish (underwaters, turns, and start), she can probably jump into the same grouping with the first two.

Big whoop whoop for the Bears tonight thus far! Seliskar, Prenot, Murphy, Pebley, Baker all with great swims and wins (or near-wins). Hope Kathleen is reveling in that tie with Regan and convincing her to come to Backstroke U. Roll on, you Bears!

Well there are disquieting rumours floating around of 2018 saplings Daniel Roy & Zoe Bartel working feverishly to lure Regan to the Dark Side lol - but there's still a ray of hope as Regan does appear to look up to Thleen to a certain extent, and had also recently developed a close rapport with 2019 Baby Bear Izzy... All of this completely unsubstantiated of course, could just be a mere figment of my overactive imagination :p

Last but certainly not least for Day 2 Finals, 2019 Baby Bear Isabel Ivey won the 200m Free C Final with her characteristic strong finish in the last 20 metres from an outside lane (#1), beating a pair of ex-Bears in Missy (now training @ UGA)'s 1:59.25 & Cierra (now @ ASU)'s 2:01.09! Ivey's time was actually faster than UVA's Paige Madden's 1:59.16 in the A final...

Only competitor to dip below the 1:59 mark in her finals heat, Izzy's 1:58.99 represents the 2nd fastest swim of her young career, just 0.05 sec shy of her 1:58.94 lifetime best achieved @ 2016 Jr Pan Pacs!

What's more, Izz's win tonight has virtually guaranteed her a Team USA spot @ Jr Pan Pacs in Fiji next month, in both the individual & relay version of this event, in addition to her potential 4x100m Free berth from her 100m Free D final win last night
