Finally-the softball recruit class has been announced with CF Diamond Holland (Archbishop Mitty-San Jose), C/1B Alexis Bishop (San Marin HS), 6-1 RHP Haylei Archer (New Jersey) & IF/C Amanda Kondo (Carlmont HS).

Holland & Bishop appear to be top quality offensive prospects. If my records are accurate, the class of 2021 will feature two more pitchers: Gabby Tobey & Jordin King. Hopefully-Ninemire & Co can find some competitive pitchers out of the five on the 2021 roster. GO BEARS!

Holland and Bishop are great additions. I haven't seen Archer pitch live but her final schools were UW, Stanford and Cal. Not a bad list there!

I thought the other Thomas sister was coming to Cal in this class. Not sure if she is walking-on or still attending.

Cal (8-4)defeated Auburn (SEC), 8-1. Both teams committed quite a few errors. I believe that the Bears botched three balls. It ppears that Ninemire may have stumbled upon the best offensive lineup now. 1B Candace Yingling was the last freshman of eight position players to earn a start. She hit a grand slam to left-center field to break open the game. Kacey Zobac also did not originally start but is batting 3rd in the order as the starting catcher. SS Kennedy Thomas did not start either but is now the regular shortstop. Junior Makena Smith began as the starting catcher, platooned at first base, played RF and has now taken over as the starting third baseman for injured junior Sparacino & frosh Medellin.

Evidently frosh Tatum Anzaldo must be injured and is perhaps redshirting. Any news on the health status of frosh RHP Sona Halajian would be appreciated? After this series, she will have missed 25% of the 2020 season already.

I'd never heard of Archer until she committed but if she truly throws in the high 60's, she could be the ace the team has been unable to recruit out of HS in awhile. Hopefully her and/or Halajian will solidify the pitching for the near term future.

Cal just lost to #18 Missouri, 11-7. The Bears were down 6-0 after two innings but battled back to tie the game 7-7 in the B6th. Unfortunately, the Tigers rallied for four runs off of a tiring Chloe Romero in the top of the 7th. Romero relieved Alex Perez with two outs in the top of the first inning. The SEC team launched three HRs vs Cal pitching.
