Sounds like Abbott is glossing over the subject of if he would RECOMMEND wearing masks (at the "right" times) and just coming down on the side of "personal freedom". Maybe he is trying to regain some of the popularity he might have lost during the extended power outage?

I'm pretty sure that if Texans take this as "Don't wear masks." and "Go to restaurants, movie theaters and bars." and "No more need to worry about COVID,", they're going to have a South Dakota on their hands. On the other hand, maybe Texans will know what the right thing to do is and when to be doing it.

With all due respect, this still doesn't answer the question. There's no way to get to zero deaths (we never have zero flu deaths either), so what is the threshold you would accept?

Personally, I think Abbott is pulling the trigger a bit too early here, but there will be some point at which governments have to remove restrictions. When is that?

We are a long way from this getting to acceptable levels.
