I don't know if this is true or not but I do know that our laws require us to allow asylum seekers to stay in country until they are processed. Doing this would alleviate pressure in border areas like Texas. There is a bipartisan bill sitting in Congress that President Biden would sign that would modernize our amnesty processes. The Constitution says to count "all persons". The Constitution also provides for birthright citizenship. I don't agree with it but the obvious remedy is to change the Constititution. While we're at it. The Electoral College should be changed. Maybe we can find some bipartisan concensus.

They would only be accepted in and also immediately given work authorization if they passed asylum interview. If 5,000 illegal immigrants are processed at the border in a day, they can completely close it but still allow 1,400 who passed asylum interview.

I have already offered this.

Close the border. Give any illegal immigrants that haven't committed crimes here and want to be citizens, citizenship. Dedicate billions to this issue, not to Ukraine. Europe should pay equally for its own defense.
