Danchenko told the FBI the Steele dossier was not based on reliable information, and then the FBI used the dossier's information to obtain FISA warrants to spy on Carter Page. I think it's time to tear down the FBI and start over.

From the article
"The FBI conducted a series of interviews with Danchenko starting in January 2017. Even after he informed them that the Steele dossier was based on alcohol-fueled hearsay, the FBI continued to cite it in surveillance warrants on Carter Page. Anonymous intelligence officials even proceeded to feed the media with the lie that Steele's dossier was being corroborated."

Republicans will only talk about the Steele Dossier. The Steele Dossier has always been mostly irrelevant.

The FBI investigation into the Trump campaign began before they had the Steele Dossier. It began when the Australian government notified the U.S. of Russia related claims made by members of the Trump campaign.

Subsequently, Republican John McCain gave the Steele Dossier to the Republican leadership of the FBI.

Later internal investigations found that the FISA warrants were sufficiently predicated without the Steele Dossier.

There is a ton of evidence of Trump Russia collusion and even more evidence of Trump's obstruction of the investigations. Trumpers won't talk about any of that because they need the Steele Dossier distraction to obfuscate.

Congressional Republicans weaponized the FBI to launch bogus investigations of Hillary Clinton. Kevin McCarthy even bragged about how they brought down Hillary's poll numbers.

The Republican leader of the FBI, James Comey, broke FBI protocol to publicly provide negative innuendo about Hillary who he did not indict. He then provided the death nail on the Hillary campaign by having a press conference to announce they were investigating Hillary the week of the election. During this time they were also investigating the Trump campaign but they kept that a secret.

Trump proceeded to purge the FBI leadership of everyone involved in his investigations.

The special rules for Federal investigators to publicly denigrate the Clinton's (which have existed since the 1990's) continue to this day. John Durham couldn't find misconduct within the government so he is just going after tangential issues with Clinton associates and publicly providing negative innuendo about Hillary Clinton.

Nothing has changed since Whitewater.

The Inspector General report of the FISA process states that the dossier was central and essential to the FISA warrant

"Decision to Seek FISA Authority
We determined that the Crossfire Hurricane team's receipt of Steele's election reporting on September 19, 2016 played a central and essential role in the FBI's and Department's decision to seek the FISA order. As noted above, when the team first sought to pursue a FISA order for Page in August 2016, a decision was made by OGC, or, or both that more information was needed to support a probable cause finding that Page was an agent of a foreign power. As a result, FBI OGC ceased discussions with or about a Page FISA order at that time.
On September 19, 2016, the same day that the Crossfire Hurricane team first received Steele's election reporting, the team contacted FBI OGC again about seeking a FISA order for Page and specifically focused on Steele's reporting in drafting the FISA request. Two days later, on September 21, the FBI OGC Unit Chief contacted the NSD or Unit Chief to advise him that the FBI believed it was ready to submit a formal FISA request to or relating to Page. Almost immediately thereafter, or assigned an attorney (or Attorney) to begin preparation of the application.
Although the team also was interested in seeking FISA surveillance targeting Papadopoulos, the FBI OGC attorneys were not supportive. FBI and NSD officials told us that the Crossfire Hurricane team ultimately did not seek FISA surveillance of Papadopoulos, and we are aware of no information indicating that the team requested or seriously considered FISA surveillance of Manafort or Flynn. Yes, I misspoke on that one paragraph about the FISA warrants. The investigation found the investigation was warranted without the Steele Dossier. Nothing about that changes the fact of the Steele Dossier being irrelevant. The bounty of evidence is elsewhere, and not from anything that resulted from the Steele Dossier. It is a distraction and still, all you will respond to about what I wrote.

It wasn't irrelevant as I just showed you. What investigation are you talking about?

As far as the "investigation " there was no evidence of conspiracy between Putin and Trump cohorts and nobody charged with same. And the Democrats declined to impeach.

This whole hoax is the result of media and Democrat hysteria largely due to the dossier and misinformation.

It's obvious at this point that nobody believes you including Biden and Garland. Or do you think Biden would approve Putin's pipeline, give him a summit and open continuing negotiations if he believed Putin conspired with his opponent? You were played

The whole sad story is that, yes, there was Russian interference- some clickbait ads on Facebook. But the major interference was the two political parties seeking advantage. Trump grifters seeking some kind of back channel and Clinton grifters orchestrating misinformation for the FBI

Excuse me, but I think you're completely off base here.
Did you watch the impeachment trial?
I did.
I don't recall ANY coverage of a Steele Dossier.
I do recall lengthy discussion and testimony about Trump phone call with Ukrainian President trying to trade arms and a WH visit for "investigations" into Trump's future opponent, Joe Biden.

Who got Biden elected?
I've always thought it was Trump himself.
But that's a different thread.

Did any of these people testify about a dossier?
What DID they testify about?

You've spent 5 years here standing up for Trump. Mueller did not present conspiracy evidence sufficient for a legal crime but presented plenty of evidence of collusion. He also layed out multiple examples of obstruction of justice. It's all on the record.

Numerous meetings with Russians the Trumpers lied about. Giving polling data to Russian agents. All the stuff that's not from the Steele Dossier that you and your Trump allies won't talk about because there's no good answer for it.

I'm sorry you don't know what the word "evidence" means and it's too bad you are so in love with Trump you only think things are relevant if they correspond to what he says.

The Steele Dossier is all you can talk about. Nobody like me is talking about it because that's not the source of the evidence. Republican John McCain gave the Steele Dossier to the FBI so fight it out with the establishment Republicans.

I have no doubt that Biden does not want his Presidency bogged down in Trump scandals and he chose a weak AG accordingly. I think it's a mistake in large part because it allows Trumpers like you to try to rewrite history.

I didn't vote for Trump or Biden but it is typical of you in your self appointed role as fake savior of democracy that you see things in terms of some heroic fight between good vs evil, when in fact you are a full moon conspiracy quack

The investigations are over, the evidence has been weighed, reports issued, hearings held and there was no conspiracy. Nobody in your party believes this stuff anymore, except dupes like you, and they never did- it was a way to get power and excuse the fact that Hillary Clinton lost to a game show host. The same Clinton whose minions in a hilarious piece of irony now appear to have colluded with Russians and Russian agents

I've spent five years assessing evidence for a fantastic conspiracy theory advanced by you and your allies- that Trump conspired with Putin to "rig" the election.

Collusion is association. The Trump campaign had associations with Russians as did the Clinton campaign. Some of these on both sides resulted in lying to authorities. But all these Trump associations have been investigated and yielded zero charges regarding the lhysterical conspiracy theory that rocked the country for five years. You've answered your own questions. Nobody- least of all your party- cares.

I think that assertion is going too far. Here's why:

1. Trump admin and pretty much everyone associated hid information. They never testified. They claimed executive privilege or simply ignored subpoenas.
2. It HAS BEEN PROVED by US intelligence agencies, and accepted by pretty much everyone not named Trump, that Russia DID INTERFERE in the US election thru a robust online campaign.

So, you might be able to claim there is not evidence of "collusion", as in "intentional correspondence and strategy between Trump and Russia (getting out on a presumed slim hair because of hiding the facts), but

YOU CANNOT SAY THAT RUSSIA DID NOT HELP TRUMP.

You continue to try and assert that, but IT'S A LIE!!!!! MISINFORMATION on your part.

As a result, FBI OGC ceased discussions with or about a Page FISA order at that time.

I said that they ran ads on Facebook. Did those puny- compared to Trump and Clinton- ads assist Trump? I'd say they had no consequence. Have you seen those ads? They are totally goofy. What other material help did they provide Trump?

James Comey helped Trump a lot more than the Russians

Edit: The Russians ran 3500 Facebook ads. The Trump campaign ran 5.9 million. The Clinton, 66,000

Liar.

1. For the most part, Trump did not claim executive privilege in the investigation. They turned over a ton of records that legitimately would have been subject to executive privilege and his own legal counsel actually gave testimony (which was unprecedented). Trump did not testify - wisely because he's an inveterate liar and would have committed perjury. But Mueller was not denied much, if any information.

2 It is widely accepted that Russian interfered in the 2016 election - just like they had for pretty much all elections since 1920. The online campaign was far from robust - it was laughable. And just to be clear - the Russians interfered on both sides - the entire Steel report was disinformation against Trump which we now know was provided by a Russian agent. The goal was to destabilize the US elections.

So yes, I can say that Russia did not help Trump. Certainly not in any meaningful way. And the Steel report - which was in part Russian disinformation - was weaponized against Trump both before and after the election.

You and Dajo are collusion truthers.

Yes, Dajo and I are speaking the truth, in order to keep the liars from writing the history. Thank you.

It's pretty funny to watch this (below) dialogue happen, knowing people's sides and how they try to twist the narrative.

1. Maria at the end seems to want to cast off the issue by simply saying "And Trump got X million votes from women!" Nice, Maria, but that means nothing as to what we are talking about here, which is a CIA report that claims Russia helped Trump.

2. And the little bow tie bulldog nerd tries to say that because the Fed Govt (a Bush-Republican war effort) lied to us about WMD in Iraq, therefore, we should not be believing them here. It's like, "well, we'll pick and choose what we want to believe."

Judge Neopolitano said it best: Republicans will investigate and come up with one conclusion, while the Democrats will come up with another, and we'll never know the truth.

I'll take the CIA at their word from the initial conclusion, and that is that Russia helped Trump.

By the way, BearGoggles, it's pretty impressive that YOU know MORE than the CIA!

If you want to go back to the source of the conclusion, then look to the Intelligence agencies press releases - the rest of it after that is politicized. And why haven't they told you more? Because it's secret stuff that we ordinary citizens don't get to know. Could they be lying? Sure. You get to believe when and about what, and we can agree to disagree on that.

Was this in dispute? Not by me. I've said it many times.

It doesn't change the fact that the collusion narrative was a political hit job of the worst order - dirty tricks that would make Nixon blush. A campaign using knowingly false intelligence to weaponize the FBI against a candidate and then a president is unprecedented. Yet here claiming it was real despite it being completely debunked.

Those were the same CIA officials that told us Hunter Biden's emails were Russian disinformation. Its funny you think that the intelligence assessment ordered by Obama after HRC's humiliating defeat was not politicized yet everything after that was politicized.

Obama, the FBI, and the CIA were all looking to CYA because they knew they had engaged in illegal and immoral tactics with crossfire hurricane and other bungling. And Brennan had specifically told Obama prior to the election that HRC's campaign was spreading Trump collusion lies. Obama did nothing.

There is no greater indication that Trump broke liberals then seeing liberals defend and vouch for the veracity of intelligence agencies. Is that the side you're on?
