Here are the lyrics to that garbage music, in case you are interested. Autotune, fake instruments, tired ass trap beat, it's a shame what the music industry has become.
Edit: Most of the **** are the n-word, yo.
Remember in the 1980s when Tipper Gore (and many others) tried to convince us that heavy metal would destroy our kids? Iron Maiden seems harmless compared to this trash.
Moneybagg Yo
If Pain Was a Person
I done over played my part
They forgot about me, amnesia (it's cool though)
I done hit yours, you done hit mine
Why you still mad? We even (I ain't on that)
The blogs put up anything (**** made up)
And the crazy part, they believe 'em (some goofies)
***** caught a charge and got locked up
Only reason dude still breathin' (I swear)
I never make a ho feel like I can't do no better than her (who?)
Heard that she got a new *****, my bag the biggest
She said he don't **** how I **** (haha)
***** lied on God and her kids (threw me off)
Damn near ****ed up my trust
I know a *****'ll cross you to win (where you at with it?)
Yeah, I come from the bluff
Lil' bro don't go through there spinnin'
Can't do it myself (why?), 'cause my position
I'm peepin' *****s in slick competition
Really some *****es, sit down when they pissin'
They get some fame off me if I mention
But it's a shame on me if I did it
I know you obsessed with me and I get it
Stay in yo' lane and stay out my business (over there)
Y'all runnin' off with all these rumors and ****
Quick and ****, makin' assumptions
Next thing you know you judgin' a *****
Damn, what about the truth?
ok boomer. tell us what offends your mediocre taste.
I'm not boomer, but I'll answer. Racism, violence, misogeny, bad writing.
I love how, when on the defensive, people resort to name calling (in this case, "boomer" and "mediocre taste").
how is this even remotely racist lol the rapper is black. what is wrong with violent content in entertainment? do you complain about movies? or just when it's black entertainers. "name calling" lolol
I complain about everything. Here's what I think:
First, this piece is art. In the classic sense. To me, if someone creates something, calls it Art and exposes it to the public, it is Art. That's all it takes. So, I don't reject this piece as unworthy of respect.
But, there is good and bad art, original and stolen art, racist art, misogynist art, violent art, badly executed art. And, it is up to the public to consider and evaluate it. And, therein lies this artist's problem.
Second, if we are to get anywhere with the issue of race in this country (and anywhere else), we must be free to speak freely about it. There cannot be restrictions about what is said, because if there are, then we don't have free speech and it becomes a matter of whose ox is being gored.
Back to the artist. He created his problem when he made his piece public. If it were confined to the Black community, sad as I might be, I would have no problem with it, But, once he exposed it to a public which is denigrated for using "******" or equivalents of it such as "*****," he creates a dichotomy where, in the words of Orwell, some animals are more equal than others. So, whites, for example, read this lyric and wonder how can this artist use the word freely, but we are vilified for even thinking it. If we are to have equality, what is sauce for the goose must be sauce for the gander.
Violence. I am personally opposed to the celebration of violence or its advocacy in art. By pouring accolades on this artist for this work, we are condoning and celebrating the violence that he at least accepts. I abhor "Dexter" for the same reason.
Mysogyny. "Ho" and who ****s her better is despicable.
Bad writing. This piece is dreadful...almost incomprehensible. I had to reread it twice to figure it out.
Rap is a legitimate expression of art. It's been around for at least 100 years. I find it too uncivilized in its present form to enjoy. I worry about its impact on young minds and their curiosity to see what happens when they try to copy what the artist advocates. But, rap artists have every right to produce it and more power to them for profiting from it. I just think they're wrong for that.
