I'll raise you a She:

She told me that she loved me,
And like a fool I believed her from the start

(She) she said she'd never hurt me,
But then she turned around and broke my heart

Why am I standing here
Missing her and wishing she were here?

She only did me wrong
(Hey) I'm better off alone

(She) she devoured all my sweet love,
Took all I had and then she fed me dirt
she laughed while I was crying
It was such a joke to see the way it hurt

Why am I standing here
Missing her and wishing she were here?

She only did me wrong
(Hey) I'm better off alone

And now I know just why she,
Keeps me hanging 'round,
(Hanging 'round)
She needs someone to walk on
So her feet don't touch the ground
(Don't touch the ground)
But I love her (love her)
I need her (need her)
I want her (want her)
Yeah (yeah) yeah (yeah)
Yeah yeah yeah yeah she
Why am I standing here
Missing her and wishing she were here?

(Hey) she only did me wrong, now
(Hey) I'm better off alone
(She) why am I missing her?
(She) I should be kissing her
(She) why am I missing her?
(She) I should be kissing her

This is what is wrong with politics. Not answering basic questions because it fits the narrative. Can't wait to see when someone comes up to debate that in mathematics 1+1 is not equal to 2 or that gravity does not exist on earth….Time for a Maccallan….,

Why can't you accept that it isn't a basic answer for many people and judges need to consider the rights of those people. Why can't you accept that some people are different from you? Why do you want to dictate other people's lives?
I have a niece who is struggling and wonders if she is a male in a female body. Obviously I am not dictating her/his life. But if 98% or more of the population are not transgender than it is a fair question why a woman cannot be defined or a male for that matter. I recognize transgender people and their plight. I am not in denial.

Also as far as transgender males competing in women sports, let's get opinions of the women who are in the sport what they think. Males on this board may not be in the best position to comment on this topic.

Why do you require a definition? I don't. The lack of a definition doesn't adversely affect me in any way.
Well as a parent I teach my kids. What is a car, a banana, a dog, a cat, to tell me things that are bothering them what is a man what is a woman. In 98% of the cases that is correct. As they get older they can get more nuanced.

Was just reading national geographic magazine on the coffee table.
Found out that there are hermaphrodite sea slugs, both male and female parts.
When they screw, they both try to be the male, and they fight to stab the other with a chemical to make it become the woman so they can then give it all its semen.

Maybe THAT is what Kavanaugh was truly trying to hide from his past!
In truth, he didn't care about the Blasey-Ford accusations. It was the coke he was trying to hide!

Quote:

People who looked at Kavanaugh's calendar and thought that the July 1, 1982 reference to "heading over for 'Skis' was about 'Brewskis,' are unaware that in '80s prep schools for rich white kids, 'skis' was cocaine, not beer. Just sayin'.

...That self-righteous freak, clearly, does not belong on any court of law, Supreme or otherwise-- and whether he still snorts coke or not. He gives new meaning to the phrase "sober as a judge." And he lies with a vile, repulsive sense of entitlement. This is the most unabashedly partisan Supreme Court candidate I've ever seen nominated. During the hearing on Thursday, Kavanaugh struggled to give a single straight answer, straining credulity "when he argued before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the 'Devil's Triangle'-- a phrase that appeared on his high school yearbook page-- referred to a drinking game, a definition which, before Thursday, you'd have a hard time finding anywhere. (It actually refers to a sex act involving two men and a woman).

Republicans do believe in big government power and always have. They don't believe the constitution reserves any rights for the people other than those enumerated and believe that states have almost unlimited power. If you listen to the questioning of KBJ you will see what I mean.

Don't believe me? Here's a thread by a Scalia conservative.

So what do you call a person who believes that people's rights are very limited (to the few that are expressly enumerated in the first 8 amendments) and that state powers are almost all encompassing? How is that a small government point of view? How is that pro freedom?

"Woman" is type of person that mystifies, bewilders and enrages conservative culture warriors, incels and other deplorables because as our society seeks to treat people fairly, the insecurities and failings of the aforementioned are magnified and causes them to realize their unearned privilege is eroding.
This may make for good propaganda, but it falls apart because it overlooks the fact that probably half of the "conservative culture warriors" are women.

Less than 40% of women vote Republican these days, so probably less than half. (Though yes, America is a big country so that can still be a significant number.)

I have posted this before, but the "I know what a woman is" crowd should take a look at this and understand the complexity and fuzzy lines that make asking that question (when you are not really trying to get an answer but instead satire, skewer, play dumb, or troll) not as simple as one would think.

The actual answer is that "you" have a perception of woman but you don't actually know what a woman is or who is a woman. Woman is a cultural term and NOT a binary biological term. And so what Republicans who ask this question fail to acknowledge is that they are actually asking is a form of tribal literacy or a litmus test; and that what they they are actually asking about is GENDER and not sex, but they refuse to understand the difference and what those two things are. They see person wearing dress as woman, but even that "woman" may not know if she is actually a "woman". Sex, like most things, is a spectrum not a two sided coin. But everything in MAGA world must be reduced to US/THEM, YES/NO, BLACK/WHITE, MALE/FEMALE. Sorry, but that is not how life actually works.

Sycasey,

The research you cited may well be true, but it is a trend from a narrow 2 year period 2015-2017. Many women were likely offended by the Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, and in response, large numbers of women moved to the Democrat Party. Trump won the election, and began implementing a mostly conservative agenda, which may be one reason Trump won back some of the support of women for the 2020 election, as Trump got 44% of the women's vote in the 2020 election, vs 39% of their vote in the 2016 election. Biden's share of the women's vote in 2020 was about the same as Hillary's share of the women's vote in 2016 (55% to 54%).

https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2021/06/30/behind-bidens-2020-victory/

The article you cited was from 2018, and that was 4 years ago. A lot has happened since then. During those 4 years, the world experienced an incredible upheaval in everyone's lives with the ongoing catastrophe of Covid, and the responses of governments to it. We have not returned to a normal life, and we may never do that. Some of the response of our institutions, politicians, and citizens has been to try and remake our society into their ideal. This has encouraged some voters and offended others. As an example, educators decided to teach young children subjects like critical race theory, and have discussions with their first grade students about gender and sex. This led to the current ongoing presence of parents at local school board meetings to protest these and other policies, such as renaming of schools in an attempt to eradicate the memory of much our past history. The parents also want input on textbooks and what is taught in class. Many of the meetings have been very contentious.

Our society has come to value a college degree more than ever, essential to getting a good job. Parents take far more interest in their children's education now. They pick them up after school, drive them to all their activities, even out of state, and fully investigate all the colleges available to their child. Raising a child is a full time job now. My parents trusted my teachers. Back then, in the afternoon, my parents gave me a ball, and told me to go out and play and be back at 6PM for dinner, or I would not eat. Today parents have enough trouble with the addictions of these young skulls full of mush having full access to a cell phone and the internet, without worrying about what their children are being indoctrinated with in the classroom. I don't know how many of these parents who show up to learn and protest at school board meetings are women, but it is a large portion, maybe a majority. Mothers of young children can be, and usually are very protective, and the educators pushing these radical agendas are pushing a lot of these mothers right into the Republican Party.

Not only that, but in the year and half that Biden has been in office, most of what was left of our society fell apart. Inflation, gas and food prices, affordable housing, letting felons out of prison early, massive increase in crime in all our cities, letting persons arrested free with no bail, and much more. Recession is right around the corner. Women worry about these things. Now we are on the edge of getting into a war or wars that most or all American mothers don't want. I'll be very surprised if many more women don't flock to the Republican Party, unless the Democrats change their destructive policies in a big, big hurry.

Because she answered, not me. If you watched the video, you saw how complicated the biology is. She could have just as easily said I am not a social scientist. But it doesn't matter what she said, you would still have a dumb question or meme for it and not really care about an answer or context.

From an old-school somewhat romantic POV, "What is a woman?" is an ageless question which deserves a profound answer......Good luck with that. Literature, art, music, etc. (not biology) are, places to look.

Substituting "female" for "woman" in the Senator's question would, for me anyway, make a big difference. However, that may not have served his purpose.

I'm certainly no expert, but I could give dozens (hundreds?) of examples:

=>it isn't "More Than a Female" or "She's Always a Female"
