The police should know better than to shoot fleeing suspected armed carjackers. It is a difficult job, and they need to make better choices. The victim paid for her terrible choices and the cops should to, depending on what the actual facts are. It could be anywhere from justification/no heavy discipline to losing their jobs to murder.

The photo looks bad so they should release video. Still, the photo glitches are probably the result of data compression. If confirmed, I have no problem with the police shooting someone with a gun who acted in any way counter to complying with police demands. If someone has a gun the police should shoot first and ask questions later at the first hint of there being an issue.

Here is the rub when closely looking at historical accounts of police unaliving melaninated people vs people of European decent the precedent is clear.

In this situation as well as others if she was white or perceived as white she would not have been shot.

That is the problem.

I have seen white assailants shoot people with arms and the are treated as if they are wrapped in bubbled wrap and handle with care stickers.

If ws/systemic racism exists the police/justice system are always going to have protect whiteness as the default.

I have seen white folks with weapons chasing after police … most times not shot and almost never un-alived.

One case … Tamir Rice would not be dead if he was not melaninated.
