I am certainly not an expert on all medical procedures. That comment is certainly out of left field. My question is was the baby dead or at least dying before the D & E? It is not clear in the article, and I don't want to make dumb assumptions. That appears to be your M.O. here.

Yup, and D&C happens in the first trimester.
D&E is done in the second.

Her doctor sad that the amniotic "sack" looked good, but "the baby (did) not".
I'm not a doctor, but that sounds like the baby was not alive.
Given her history of hemorrhaging, she would most likely
not be able to "pass the baby" at home.

She wound up having an abortion under a doctor's care at the hospital.

NOTE: Abortion is banned in Arkansas, except to save the pregnant person's life.

DeSantis has zero actual policy beliefs. He's just good at seeing whatever position the Republicans' right-wing base will want him to take and getting there a few minutes ahead of time.
