I wish more politicians responded to journalists like that. The phrase "some Democrats say" is a running joke of impending baseless attacks on Democrats.

I wish the journalist asked him a straightforward question to begin with and then challenged him on his garbage conservative establishment response about cutting waste to balance the budget. That's the nonsense the journalist should have challenged him on.

"The Utah senator and one-time GOP presidential nominee unleashed a torrent of pointed criticism aimed squarely at the information universe in which most of his party's members consume their news, characterizing it in a new book as a dangerous propaganda factory detached from reality, poisoning the minds of its inhabitants.

……It's hard to imagine," Romney said in one excerpt of the book that Coppins shared with me, but Tucker Carlson is turning the GOP into "the pro-Russian, pro-authoritarian party."

Tucker Carlson has said more things I agree with in the past year than Mitt Romney has said in his lifetime. It'll never not be funny to me that Trump stole his party that stood for nothing except making rich guys richer away from them.

It still only stands for making rich guys richer. It's just minus the democratic process part now.

What, in your opinion, does the Republican Party stand for now, either thanks to Trump, or not?

Before it stood for rich guys getting richer and a bunch of conservative culture war stuff to get poor people to go along with them. Now it stands for Trump's ego first, then the stuff it stood for before.

dajo9's whining about democracy is just whining. It was democracy that held Trump's worst impulses in check. Meanwhile, we have actual fascism under Biden with the merging of corporations and academic think tanks doing the censorship that the government can't overtly do, but dearly wants to. So every time some Biden voter cries about the death of democracy, I just laugh at their stupidity which is in infinite abundance.
