Photo of Las Trampas Wilderness Regional Preserve in San Ramon (Elevation 1,760 ft) that I took this morning from a street in Walnut Creek (about a 17 mile drive from where I stood):

I was a freshman. I took Humphrey Go Bart up to the Lawrence Hall of Science and frolicked in the snow for an hour or two. Helped build a small snowman. Then I had to walk back down because Humphrey Go Bart stopped running.

It was not a blizzard. There was no wind to speak of and visibility was good. I've been in blizzards in North Dakota where I could only see 10 or 15 feet and was afraid I would lose sight of the building I worked in. The 1976 snow in Berkeley was nothing like that.

You live there? My sister does. A friend sent her that photo this morning. 80 inches of snow fell in some areas in SoCal. Great photos you posted.

These 2 are easy. Still working on exact location of your first pic. Is that your house in the distance of the second pic? You must get a lot of rattlesnakes in the summertime!

I know that street in WC.
But wont disclose due to privacy concerns.
Actually spent the first 3 years of my life in the 60's about a half-mile away as the crow flies.

Yeah I know it too. First one was harder for me bc I usually go over the bridge or just go in on the other side. Beyond the house in the last pic is a rock formation where diamondbacks breed, as you probably know.

Yes, lots of rattlers, deer, tarantulas and bobcats hangout down that street. My buddy who lives down there took this photo in his backyard:

The 1st photo was from Alamo Plaza parking lot.

My parents rented a house (red circle) on Sylvan Road in WC from 1962 - 1964 after we moved out of Berkeley.

The "X" marks the spot where Steph Curry bought a home for $3.2 million off of Rudgear Road back in late 2015.
Kind of small and no privacy or backyard. He didnt stay there for very long.

He then moved down the road to Alamo in 2016 to a 10,000 square foot place with 5 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms in 2016 for just under $6 million. Put that place on the market for $9.3 million after the Warriors built Chase Center and bought a place in Atherton for $31 million. Sold it 3 years later for roughly the same price.

There was a horse ranch (and lama farm) at the corner of Blackwood Drive and Mountain Blvd up until about 30 years ago.

This is the view looking East towards Mountain Blvd and Shell Ridge.

Simpler times.

I live nearby.

I was in Pasadena on my way to Torrance to run an errand and stopped to get lunch to go. While waiting I saw an employee sharing a video of snow with her colleague. I asked where it was taken and she said La Crescenta. I asked her when it was taken and she said it was taken just then.

We decided to change plans to go see what was going on. La Canada didn't really see snow for the most part except right at the border (where my pictures were taken) but La Crescenta and Tujunga did. Weather service says 2 inches fell but it was more in some areas. The further up into the hills one went the more snow was falling.

It was a really festive atmosphere with residents making snowmen and people (but not too many) driving up to get a better look. It was a real snowfall, not just one of those hail/grauple events. Soft white flakes covered everything. Beautiful!

I have never seen anything like it in Southern California except in the mountains obviously. On the way home we saw all the cars at the Toyota dealership covered in snow as well as all the parked cars. Awnings and roofs were all covered in snow up and down Foothill Boulevard. It looked like it snowed across the way in the higher elevations of Glendale, too.

At my place, even though I am at almost as high of an elevation, we just got rain (over 10 inches) and some occasional slush balls that went SPLAT. The snow was really localized. Downtown La Canada didn't get any snow at all while all the cars driving into town from the west were covered in it.

Definitely a day to remember! Good decision to forget about Torrance although that is often good advice anyway.

Lake Oroville
This is the 2nd largest reservoir in the state.

From 28% of capacity to 64% at the end of January to 72% as of Monday
That's 116% of historical average!
