And why do black kids from two parent households fare better than white kids from single parent households?
Someone is asking logical, non-PC questions.

And why do you have no answers for preventing broken families? Give us a workable plan.bear2034 said:
And why is there so much focus on race and no national conversation about broken families when statistics show white and black kids both fare better when they grow up with two parents?
Yep, I figured you would dodge with a personal attack. It's easier than thinking up an answer for social issues.bear2034 said:
You seem a little more unhinged lately.
It's those damn Republicans in California and OREGON! that are stopping you libs from solving the issues that are plaguing society. And I thought AB89 was stupid!Eastern Oregon Bear said:Yep, I figured you would dodge with a personal attack. It's easier than thinking up an answer for social issues.bear2034 said:

Oh, wait, I'm asking a Republican for a plan to fix the country's ills. That's a waste of time.
Bear2034 is a country club Republican?movielover said:Eastern Oregon Bear said:And why do you have no answers for preventing broken families? Give us a workable plan.bear2034 said:

Democrat big government social policies destroyed traditional Black families - families that survived slavery and Jim Crow - and now you want country club Republicans to fix the devastation?

And how would we figure out who pays what?sycasey said:
Reparations in the form of help for the black community, businesses, schools, etc., I can see potentially being effective.
Direct payments to the descendants of slaves? If we could have done that during Reconstruction, immediately following the war, then sure. Doing it now seems logistically impossible. There are plenty of white people in this country who are descended from slaves and black people who aren't. How do you figure out who gets what?
Hearing white guys talk about how black people use victimization to gain equality is laughable. Steele's use of his status as a unicorn(black conservative) to further some conservative ideology reminds me of Clarence Thomas. Yes, the same Clarence Thomas who at one time was all about the black struggle while in college but now is the preeminent unicorn in conservative legal circles. People of color want equality and a fair shot for their kids. If you think that people of color have reached equality then you are WRONG. Things have gotten better but the dream has never been fully realized. Many black families have stories that illustrate the unfair business practices that kept those families on the lower rungs of the economic ladder. Reparations are a way to compensate black families. It is a way to make black families more economically whole after slavery which was the economic engine of this country.DiabloWags said:

What a sad way to go through life.
Steele believes that the use of victimization is the greatest hindrance for black Americans. In his view, white Americans see blacks as victims to ease their guilty conscience, and blacks attempt to turn their status as victims into a kind of currency that will purchase nothing of real or lasting value. Therefore, he claims, blacks must stop "buying into this zero-sum game" by adopting a "culture of excellence and achievement" without relying on "set-asides and entitlements"

If you look back at our history, every single ethnic / racial group other than anglo-saxon faced inequality in economic opportunity. In fact, Asians may have been the most recently and openly discriminated, with Japan (80s) / China (recently) viewed as enemies that engulfed even Americans with Asian heritage.BearNIt said:DiabloWags said:

Equality should reflect economic equality. Economic equality denied to those in the past affects future generations.
