Testing to start later this Summer.

A team of government researchers in China have unveiled the design for a commercial nuclear reactor that is expected to be the first in the world that does not need water for cooling, allowing the systems to be built in remote desert regions to provide power for more densely populated areas.

The molten salt reactor, which is powered by liquid thorium rather than uranium, should also be safer than traditional ones because in the event of a leak, the molten thorium would cool and solidify quickly, dispersing less radiation into the environment. unlike uranium, thorium cannot be used to make nuclear weapons.

"Small-scale reactors have significant advantages in terms of efficiency, flexibility and economy. They can play a key role in the future transition to clean energy. It is expected that small-scale reactors will be widely deployed in the next few years,"

Professor Yan Rui and colleagues at the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics wrote in a paper published in the Chinese journal Nuclear Techniques last week. "A molten salt reactor has the advantage of being multipurpose, small in size and highly flexible. It is as easy to design as a small-scale reactor. In recent years, the potential of small-scale molten salt reactors has caught international attention."

You play lip service to the idea that there is no reason for China and the U.S. to view each other through the prism of pre World War I enemies destined for war and yet. . . you also posit things in a way to make Chinese success as an attack on Biden if you can.

It's almost as if you are not genuine but rather have a pro autocratic, anti Democratic Party agenda.

The last video's thumbnail is clickbaitish and sensationalist, but the content is fairly apolitical and quite informative about China's thorium program, which is running ahead of schedule, and about what we can learn and apply from their thorium program. The author's approach is very much in the spirit of global cooperation rather than the new cold war mindset.

You got triggered by Biden's mug, but that video is not about him, or the clown world of domestic partisanship. This is a case where you got ahead of yourself and judged the book by its cover, though in all fairness, that cover was a bit cringy.

That's why I didn't click on it.

Actually, that's a lie. I never click on your videos. I have too much respect for my phone to do that.

Perhaps you can try it on your computer then, or better yet, outgrow your drama queen tendencies and learn something about an important subject.

You have blown all credibility. Trying to learn from you is not productive.

Losers are gonna continue lose.

Anti-American sentiment will continue to prevail at a stupid message board that only losers care about.

Cause thats what losers do.
They care about losing.

Losers are those like dajo and you here who are constantly getting offended and finding reasons to be antagonistic.

The material I have presented is void of anti-American content, beyond the clickbaitish cover/thumbnail of the 2nd video posted, which does not reflect the tone of its content. I don't think the author even mentioned Biden in that video, he just presents the limitations and shortcoming of the US in terms of long-term infrastructure planning and the constraints of the US electrical grid.

These videos cover pretty well what might be the most game-changing technology this decade, perhaps the key to global prosperity and industrial progress. They also present a much more optimistic perspective for those who have been panicking about climate change. This might just be the energy breakthrough for humanity, we should get on that bandwagon instead of being left behind.

The video titled "Americans can't believe what China built now" with a cartoonish picture of America's President, is "void of anti-American content"

Some important aspects of thorium molten salt nuclear energy production gathered from these videos and other suorces:

-Thorium is much more abundant and cheaper than uranium

-1T of thorium can provide as much energy as 200T of uranium, because the material can be used over and over again (close loop use)

-The decision to abandon thorium in favor of uranium back in the 1960s was largely based on the fact that the latter process provided the fissile material for nuclear weapons.

-Thorium is a much safer process, both during production and with its byproducts, with a much more limited structural risk of core meltdown

-The process of molten salt nuclear fission can also use highly radioactive spent uranium waste products from conventional plants, turning them into less radioactive material.

-China and India are the main players today. India has large thorium reserves, both countries are all in, set to start producing nuclear power from thorium later this decade. India was invested early on, while China started out later, about a decade ago, but since then China has stepped up its efforts, its thorium research team now includes thousands of scientists, which has allowed it to surge ahead of India, with the new powerplant in the Gobi Desert.

A couple more sources on the subject, these look "kosher" enough for the haters:
